Hi FFL

I'm sorry to hear that your mum is so busy and short with you when she is home. Could it be that she is tired after work? I know that sometimes I am short with my children after a long day at work, even though I don't want to be.

Sometimes my kids just make a comment like "Wow, what's wrong with you tonight?" and it signals to me that I'm being short and then I change my behaviour or explain what's happening for me. Sometimes my daughter will just say, "I miss you mum, you've been so busy lately. Do you want to get coffee?", which is another great prompt to remind me that I need to give her more time and attention. I wonder if you could give mum a gentle prompt or talk to her about how you are feeling? Is there anyone else at home that you could talk to?

I'm sorry to hear that the kids at school are mean to you. I think it would be a good idea to let a teacher or the school counsellor know what's happening so they can help you. Do you think you could talk to someone you trust at your school?

I am really glad to hear about your friend. I'm hoping that you have lots of fun together … what kind of things do you like to do?

Well it seems like I'm asking a lot of questions. You don't have to answer them but I am happy to keep talking if you want to x
