Hi I'm 43 years old I'm working full time I've suffered depression since I was about 15 but recently it seems to be a lot worse I went to the doctor the other day to get a new script for anti depressants he made me feel like a fool I find talking about it does help but it's hard to find people who want to talk about it so here I am.

Hello Scooter

Welcome to Beyond Blue and the forum. Good to meet you.

I am sorry you have lived with depression for so long. How does this affect your life? Did your doctor give you a different antidepressant? Have you ever talked to anyone else about your depression? Sorry about the questions. Just trying to see where you are. If the only help you have received is from your GP then it may be time to see a psychologist. Your GP can start you off with ten Medicare subsidised appointments but you will need to pay the whole fee after ten visits, at least until the end of the year. You can have ten subsidised visits per calendar year.

I suggest this as it appears you do not have much rapport with your GP. That is sad in itself. Becoming more unwell is not good and I think may be time for a change in treatment.

Do you have any family (spouse, children, parents, siblings) who you can talk to about how you feel? Someone is always here although that does not mean you will always get immediate answers. Continue to talk here and perhaps you can tell us a little more about yourself.
