Hi Anon7289
This may sound like a strange question but here goes 'Do you know who you are?'
Sometimes, when I ask folk this question they'll typically either say 'No' or they'll say 'I want to be...' (as opposed to I am...).
In a way, we can kind of be like mirrors. When I look at my husband, I may see myself as a wife at times. When I look at my kids, I may see myself as a mother at times. And so on. When I look at my self (as an individual), I can be full of questions as to who I am or who I believe myself to be. It's then that I go to my list. It's a list of natural aspects regarding who we are. The list kind of resembles that of a child by the way.
Am I:
- an adventurer?
- a free spirit (free of the conditions that come with society)?
- someone who wants to have fun or dress more freely?
- someone who wants to be raised in constructive ways (be more inspired by others)?
- someone who wants to learn new things?
It's a long list, so I won't go on any further.
So, do you know who you are or who you want to be?
Is there something positive you've often considered doing but you've talked yourself out of it for one reason or another? If so, is there a chance that this thing you've considered is naturally you but you're just not sure where to start in the way of rising to this challenge?
It can definitely be a challenge to be true to our natural self. I find when such a challenge presents and I'm not too sure how to rise to it, I'll seek out my 'go to' people. I'll invite them to inspire me in ways I may not have considered. By the way, when we're aiming to raise our self in such a way, it's important not to look to the ones who are going to keep us down. They'll be folk who make comments like 'What you're considering is ridiculous' or 'You can't do that'. Let no person keep us down!
I'll give you a fairly simple challenge to hopefully help get you going - BE WONDERFUL. Try being full of wonder, wondering about who you can be or what you can do. Wonder and imagination are what precede action. Our actions in life often become pretty routine until we begin to wonder about or imagine new possibilities. Don't be too surprised if being wonderful presents some discomfort. As we wonder about who we want to be, we also touch on who we don't want to be anymore.
Remember, be wonderful. Such a simple task holds power to replace emptiness and when we meet with our natural self (the excited child in us), this meeting can replace the loneliness. Look after that kid in you.
🙂
