Hi team.

I'm somebody who just go's out there and works, rain, hail, snow or shine, your average genuine human. Have been for the last 29 years until it all came to a crashing end last year when I was involved in an accident at work and have seriously injured my shoulder, yeah have a recon ya say stop complaining... I've had 3 in the last year. now that's fine, I just want my shoulder back to the way it was, or the best it can get. I still vote for amputation.

Lately I've been feeling as if I'm Worthless and are just a waste of space becoming a burden to society, I'm helpless and nobody is there for me let alone would spare the time of day for me. What can I do as I'm starting to really hate this person I'm becoming

Hi Noideaatall

haha love your post...you are in the right place. and you are so not a waste of space and not worthless...cos you just made me smile..with your smile

But we all have these moments of worthlessness...but don't you worry ...u too will have moments of brilliance...and think ...OMG I rock...and you do ...and you just don't know it yet.

Don't be too hard on yourself 🙂 Tell me what happened in your accident ...why you want your arm amputated??...I see if it warrants that need...lol

Look forward to hearing back from you .

That can't be right, I haven't smiled for a long time. I really wish I had a reason to but those reasons keep evading me.

i have them far too often. I go out of my way to help people and forget about myself then get trampled over and left to suffer while everyone else reaps the benefits

i fell from a semi trailer and badly dislocated and rotated my arm.

Goodness...u got me ...badly dislocated and then then rotated...omg ...yes I believe an amputation is called for...haha...only joking.

in all seriousness it must be so frustrating dealing with the pain. I am not that verse in the subject of dislocation but would you do physiotherapy??

So your frustration is two fold??

1) the pain from your dislocated arm and

2) the pain from being trampled on by people that take you for granted??

Hi Noideaatall,

Welcome to the community here. I'm sorry to read about your accident and consequent injury.

Please only answer what you feel comfortable doing okay, as you injured yourself at work, are you now on Work Cover if so do you feel supported by this organisation and your work place? Are you able to return to work at all?

Decades ago I had a reasonably serious back injury that required surgery. I went through Work Cover and had an employer who said I had injured myself on purpose. I spent a year lying on the floor recovering from the surgery.

While looking for work I have taken up various volunteer roles, is this at all possible for you? It gives me back a sense of belonging and like I still have something to offer society. I also have a lot of laughs with some of the people I volunteer with.

Do you have hobbies or interest you can do? You may well have a huge amount of pain to deal with daily I am guessing, so doing somethings may take imagination and ingenuity.

Some days I like to watch funny clips on the computer, they make me smile, or pictures of cute kittens. Now kittens might not be your thing, but you can find so much on the computer these days, there might be some comedy sketches say that will give you a laugh.

Now and then we not only have to look outside of the box, we have to jump right out of the darn box to see what is around us.

It is okay to look after yourself and put yourself first at times ...so people tell me! Ha. Ha. I am still working on this myself!

Think about something you would really like to achieve that will give you a sense of self fulfilment (that is legal and won't hurt others) and see what you can do to achieve that.

Cheers to you from Dools

I feel now by W/C I'm just another statistic, by my former employer I'm non existent.

i will be able to return to work but the question is what and when. Do I go back to engine rebuilding or go away grain growing again. I'm not one for clean offices, much prefer getting dirty outside and not having to worry about Dave and HR breathing down my neck about my comments in the sheep yards or scolding the dog.

i already (pre injury) are an involved member of the statewide bushfire response team but had to stand down from active duty for the current season and will hopefully be available for mitigation again this year.

I've done that much physio that I know most of the staff on an almost personal level. 3 reconstructions and about 9 months of physio later.

When you're alone, to cope with it by yourself, as most of my friends are FIFO workers or work regionally and families overseas, it becomes a little consuming after a while.
