Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie. I have been thinking about posting for ages. I have read the many positive, encouraging comments about how people have felt so supported and helped by posting, so thought I would too, even though I feel a quite scared and hope I can be a support and help to you too.

I have had depression and anxiety since I was about 16 years old - for 30 years. It has always been a part of my life, not only my personal experience, but that of close family. Although I wouldn't wish it on anyone, it is a great help to me to know there are others out there who understand.

Thanks very much for the opportunity to share with you .

Hello Homemaker Rae

Welcome to the forums and thankyou so much for your super kind feedback too 🙂

Im Paul and joined in Jan 2016 after being made redundant. Anxiety recovered after 13 years (most of it) and now low level depression and have taken SSRI low dose for 21 years...just so you know who you are talking to. These are awful conditions to have.

Its so good of you to say that you have found some comfort that there are others who understand

I think you are amazing for having the strength to post and share. It takes a lot of courage to do so

The forums are a judgement free zone Rae. You will never be judged on here......just many gentle people like yourself that have similar pain in our lives

Great to have you as part of the Beyond Blue family Rae 🙂

my kind thoughts for you

Paul

Thank you for your kind words, Paul.

Wishing you all the best for your day.

Hi Homemaker Rae,

Welcome to the community here. You don't need to feel scared at all. One of the great things about this forum is that everyone is anonymous. We can send our comments and posts from where ever and no one needs to know who we are, what we look like or anything.

Most of the people here all understand depression and mental health issues or are trying to understand so they can help loved ones and people they know.

My journey with mental health issues has been a bit of a roller coaster ride for decades. My memory is rather bad so I have no idea when I joined the forum, I do know that I have been well supported here and like to think I can support others as well.

Just be yourself, connect when you feel like it and know that people here are not judgemental, we validate and acknowledge each other and the issues we are going through.

So once again, Welcome to you!

Cheerio form Mrs. D.

Hi Mrs D, thanks very much for your welcoming words. I appreciate your reply.

Kind regards, Homemaker Rae.

hello Homemaker Rae, welcome to the site, I know it's not easy to post your first comment, because there may have been many times when you had typed what you wanted to say, but edited to where you eventually delete it, worrying that you wished you had posted it instead.
Each one of us suffers in our own way with depression/anxiety, however sometimes we feel as though no one can understand what we are struggling from, well yes and no, but all of us have been or still going through our ongoing symptoms of depression, it's a recurring illness that can trouble us at any time, but we can try and help each other. Geoff.

Hi Homemaker Rae,

You are more than welcome. Please feel free to write what is on your mind on this thread and in time you may like to venture out and add posts to other threads. Either way, you do what is comfortable for you.

Yesterday I had a bit of an off day and did little, I did manage a walk and we had visitors here for a while so that cheered me up. I did a bit of crocheting and worked on the hard parts of a jigsaw, there is nothing in the sky at all I am leaving that for last!

Today I am heading off to a craft group where we have lunch together as well.

Later on I hope to pick up more sticks for our wood fire and will be attending a meeting for one of the volunteer groups I am involved in tonight.

Some days I need to push myself and find "motivation" it seems to hide from me quite often. Ha. Ha.

Hope you have a good day.

Cheers from Mrs. D.
