G'day,

I am 51, being bought up in childrens homes for 1967 til 1980, suffer fromn anxiety, depression and god knows what, wanting to talk with others with similar experiences. Yeah, I am a mess at times, though have a uni degree now working in aged care, (god forbid), Just really seeking someone who understands. Currently undergoing counsellingh, but yeah we know what that's like. I have no contacts nor outside friends.

dear MT, well I'd like to welcome you to the site and understand that living in a children's home for 13 years wouldn't have been the best environment, with little way of being loved and nurtured.

I am sure that all these children, including yourself would always have an uphill battle when you are allowed to leave, and it's no wonder that you have suffered.

I want to congratulate you on achieving a degree at uni and would love to know what the course was about.

You have now connected with a lot of friends here on this site, some will reply and some won't, but that doesn't mean that people aren't reading your post.

So I'm 60, old isn't it and where have all those years gone, well a good chunk was wiped out by my depression, and after going to a private school I'm sure that my Dad would have been disappointed, but life goes on.

Would love to hear more about you. Geoff.

Hi Marc

I too would like to welcome you to this forum.  Like Geoff has mentioned, you have joined a terrific little community of friends.

Please tell us a little more about yourself, have a little rant, or just join in the discussions.

look forward to hearing more from you.

Gi'day MT (Marc) --  that counselingexperience ... you only get out of it what you put in ... or at least that's what I've found. I've got both nightmare stories and stories that make people laugh (they don't know what else they're meant to do) and stories of sheer delight, growth and enlightenment. But to be honest I learnt the most counseling myself ... the older me counseling the hurt and lonely boy me that for  many years I'd caged and trapped (for his own safety) within my mind. I think they now call the whole experience "Rebirthing" in the so-called alternative culture.

At any rate, we're all complex beings -- wouldn't be any fun if we weren't, would it?

Hope you enjoy this site ..... and it helps ... or you find that you might be able to help someone else just by talking about your own journey ... who knows? Hope you stick around to find out.
