Hi everyone and happy Wednesday!

I'm in my mid 20's and on placement at beyondblue for my masters in psychology. I grew up in Queensland and moved to Melbourne several years ago to pursue my dreams of studying psychology at university.

In my spare time I enjoy reading and spending time with loved ones. I also really enjoy travelling (my favourite place so far has been Egypt!).

I feel really honoured to have been given the opportunity to contribute to some of the forums here - thank you for having me here. I'm passionate about helping people and hope I can provide some support where possible.

- Marie (:

Hi, welcome

This forum is a valuable place for so many people. Some come and go, others remain, it's free and easy without pressure.

For us Community Champions peer advising is not only giving our time, energy and experiences opportunity to help others, it's actually very therapeutic. We also extend out knowledge on illnesses that we do not have. Although the confines of our expertise does not extend to a professional level we can point members to the different forks in the road of their journey to recovery and being available 24/7/365 it has that immediate response otherwise not available to many where you have to wait weeks for an appointment.

So welcome again.

Hi Marie and welcome to the forums

What is your favourite book? Mine is definitely the Harry Potter books, especially the 5th book as it was the first one I read entirely on my own 🙂

Hi TonyWK,

Thank you for your reply!

I can really see that the forums are a place of invaluable support for those people who are using them (and it's great that they are available to use 24/7/365 as you said). It seems like it is a place where people can not only share their knowledge, but also connect with others in a very therapeutic way and learn from other people's experiences.

Thanks again for your welcome.

Hi Geoff,

Thank you for such a warm welcome! I feel hugely humbled to be be a part of the forums here.

Yes, Egypt was incredible (my favourite part was walking through tombs that are thousands of years old in the Valley of the Kings).

Thanks again for welcoming me so openly in to the forum.

Hi MsPurple,

Thank you for your reply!

I also love the Harry Potter books and spent much time throughout my childhood reading them. The 5th book is a great one and my favourite is probably the 3rd one.

Hello Marie

Welcome to the forum. Good to have you on board.

I read a great deal but these days my books are more text books as I am on a course for pastoral care in the Anglican church. I have been doing pastoral care for several years but this course is putting it all in perspective for me. I love to learn new skills and new information of just about everything.

I spent all last week in Melbourne and I was cold. How do you get on with the weather after living in Qld? I live in Brisbane and was so pleased to get home to warmer weather. Brrr!

I hope you enjoy your stay with us.

Hi Marie, welcome to BB

Happy Friday to you. Great to have you hear and look forward to reading your posts. Don't you find the Queensland weather much nicer than the Victorian weather ? 🙂 🙂 Having said that Queensland has been cold this winter. LOL.

Egypt is one of my favourite places - never been there, but I love everything Egyptian.

Enjoy your time with us.

Kind regards

PamelaR

Hi Pamela,

Thank you for your warm welcome. (:

I actually prefer colder weather, so it was a relief to move to Victoria!

In my short time in the forums, I have felt hugely welcomed and truly humbled and privileged to hear some of the stories here.

Thanks again for your reply!
