Hi BPDgirl88,
I'm so sorry for what you have experienced, I can't imagine how hard it is for you.
But I'm happy to hear that you're on some therapy and wanting to know more.
I'm not a professional but I did a small research for you.
Effective psychological therapies for BPD include:
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)
- Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT)
- Schema Therapy (ST)
Your GP or therapist can explain these and discuss which is the most helpful for you and what might be accessible to you. Therapy can take from several months to a year or more, depending on your needs and the services in your area.
For more detailed information have a look at this very helpful website: Borderline personality disorder (BPD) (sane.org)
I hope everything will be better, especially self-harming or suicidal ideas won't be triggered again, but if it happens, please remember following hotlines:
