Hi,
Just signed up and trying to come up with a cool introduction I probably don't have in me.
I am a 29 years old, living in Sydney. I work full time. I have been experiencing some alarming dark shift of my mood recently, that refuses to go away for days. These are worse than the occasional blues I get. My doctor hasn't officially diagnosed me with anything, but advised me not to be alone. (She thinks I'm lonely). She recommended I find a way to be around people. I confess, it's difficult for me to make friends.
The reason I decided to join was I hoped I'll be able to talk to people who might be going through the same thing I am at the moment.
So, thank you for having me here. Thank you for this opportunity to write this at all. 🙂
Regards
Sparklemuffin85
I signed up to see if this might help me with preventing any thing w

Hey Sparkle
You never need a 'cool' intro on here....you have done just fine and Welcome to the BB Forums.
You are not on your own here...Many people on here have 'difficulty' making friends..me included. It can be hard to do. Do you have a couple of people that you talk to on the phone?...It may be a small start, but its a start
Your shift in mood is also common but nothing to alarmed about...Life can be a roller coaster sometimes...The ups and downs can take you by surprise sometimes..The downs can be a pain Sparkle...I agree totally..
How many people do you work with? As in your work area/office area?
I hope you can get back to us...there are many kind people on here that can help you ride out this 'storm' Sparkle
Thankyou for having the courage to post
Here for you
Paul

I'm not sure whether you are male or female which is always good for us to know, because it may differ from what we have to say, never mind.
It's all very good for your GP to advise you to see other people,ut I believe that she should have asked you more questions, just as you can do by googling 'the K-10 test', which is just an indicator on whether or not you may have depression, as it will give you a score, but I would also suggest doing it a few times, only because your mood will differ during the day, so by doing it a couple of times will then give you a general pattern.
I would also suggest getting another opinion from another GP and if you click onto 'Get Support' and then scroll down to 'Find a Professional' then there will be a list of doctors near you to contact.
These doctors are aligned with BB and specifically deal with depression of any type.
Your present GP maybe right, but doesn't seem to be giving any help along the way for you, in regards to medication or seeing a psychologist which you can do by the doctor putting you on a mental health plan which entitles you to 10 free visits to see a psychologist.
Please get back to us when you have done the K-10 test and whether or not you want to see someone else. Geoff.

Hello Sparklemuffin
Here is Welcome hug for you from me, if you would be happy to receive one that is?? And I am sorry you are going through some dark moods at the moment.
I am the same as you, I find it near impossible to make friends. I don't even know what to say most of the time. I feel awkward, self conscious and I don't often get the small talk either. So please don't feel you are alone in this struggle.
So I am just going to jump straight in and ask you about your work. Like what sort of work to you do? I am not doing paid work at the moment, but I use to do nursing. In fact I lived in Sydney for about 3 years, working at a hospital in Concord.
Do you have any pets? Sometimes they are good company, for when you are lonely.
I do hope you are having a better day today.
Much love
Shell xx
