Hi my am Virginia. I have suffered anxiety/depression for most of my life. Only officially diagnosed in 2006 and still being treated medically and psychologically. I have never joined a forum before because of fear of not knowing what to say.

Hi Virginia,
Welcome! Maybe in time you'll find the words to say?
When I first joined I was the same. I read lots and lots of posts to get a feel for the forums. I found comfort then I found the words.
These guys are great. You landed in a good corner of the Internet.
I hope you had a great weekend. Did you do much?
Velv.

Hi Virginia and welcome to the forums 🙂
I was diagnosed with GAD in 2015 however I have had an ED in 2007. I wasn't diagnosed earlier because I was young and its harder to pin point it when your young. I think my anxiety caused my ed but I didn't really know what anxiety was and for me my ed was a way to cope and have control. I still go to therapy every now and again. I used to go to a psychiatrist but don't anymore as I moved states late last year and haven't gotten one up here. I do have a GP that is managing me and I was put on the right path before I moved so no need for one at this point. For me it looks like my anxiety maybe a chronic condition. Some people may have it for a while then it goes into remission then it comes back. Mental health is different for every person (hence different methods of treatment working for different people). I am no longer ashamed that I go to therapy and that I still need support. I want to look after myself and get the most out of life and me doing these things is making sure I am getting the most out of life.
It is great you have joined the forums. Here you will be with like people. Feel free to go onto other threads and contribute to other forums and be social. There are a great bunch of people here who offer great support and advice (some of which I have taken myself). It is a safe place here. Hope to see you around on the forums 🙂
