Greetings! I am a 56 year old who has lived with schizoaffective disorder diagnosis since I was 21. My condition is well managed with medication and other approaches. I have a lot of hobbies which include psychology, philosophy, metaphysics and preparedness. Please drop me a line and say hello so I can get better acquainted with you. I hope you are enjoying a nice day today ♥️

Dear WishinaBottle~
Welcome here to the Forum. I took a great deal of comfort form your message as you talk of having a serious condition for 35 year and am in a good place
You mentioned that it is manged by medication and other approaches, and you also have a range of other interests, which sounds really excellent.
Sad to say there are others in the forum who have a condition similar to yours but have not reached the stage of managing it that you have. (There even more who just read this Forum but never post)
Would you like to say a little more about your journey with this condition, what has helped and what has not, and about the other measures you referred to? While we do not mention specific medications by name here I'd guess you could give general information in that area as well as therapies you have undertaken.
Having such a positive story and how it cam abut would give may hope
Warm regards
Croix

Hello WishInaBottle,
& welcome , too.
I had been interested in psychology & philosophy too, but don't remember much of what I've learned over the years. It doesn't botter me much because I can still listen to programmes about these things, & other stuff, too, & sometimes I realise I've heard stuff before, just haven't recalled it until I have begun listening. Yet, I can't tell what is going to be said in the next minute.
My psych )PDr), finally revealed to me what diagnoses I had when he filled out a form for me. Turns out he diagnosed me with Schizoid Personality Disorder (& other things I'd thought were so anyway), which I hadn't even heard of before.
A little research later, & I agree entirely with his diagnoses. I have some understanding of how my personality disorder differs from Schizoaffective Disorder.
I've also known someone who had this disorder, too.
She liked to write & wrote well. She was quiet & it was some time before she opened up a bit. Like me, she was more comfortable talking through her writing.
I liked her very much.
I think sometimes she struggled.
I'm very glad you are here to tell us that with your medication & other strategies you are doing well.
There are people out there, reading without posting, who, I hope, will feel encouraged by your message. I know I do, just thinking of the possibility that the woman I once knew might be reading.
(Although, if she is, & recognises me, just remember, we are supposed to be anonymous.)
& yes, the end of what is now yesterday, just made the day good.
Hugzies,
mmMekitty

Hello WishInaBottle,
A very warm welcome to the forums, love the name. Thank you for sharing your mental health challenges which is not an easy task to do. Really happy to hear that you manage it well with medication and other approaches.
I am also very keen and interested in psychology and philosophy. They are so interconnected and share similar interests in understanding the mind, thought, behavior and human experience.
Please feel free to browse through several topics on the forums which may be of help or interest to you.
Here to listen and support anytime...
Take care
