Hi everyone. I'm a 35 years old single mother. I have a 12 year old daughter. She has many mental health problems. I have had to spent time on dealing with her issues from about 2 years ago. I lost focus at work and lost my last job. I'm now stuck in a job I'm unhappy about. The interest rate on my mortgage rose from about 2 years ago as well. So I cannot afford to lose my current job. I want to take some time off work, I feel that I also can't afford the time off. Because of the pressure from having to deal with my daughter's issues and my financial problems, I withdrew from friends and families these 2 years too. Now I feel so depressed and lonely. I would like to connect with someone who is going through something similar. Thanks.

Hi Li2024,
Warm welcome to the forum. You sounds like an incredible mother, supporting your daughter through her mental health issues.
So sorry to hear you lost your last job. Unfortunate side that lot of people don't see is supporting someone can take a toll on themselves. So it's very important that you take time for yourself and take care of yourself. I'm glad you are here in the forum sharing your story. At a time like this support from friends and family is very useful. Are you able to reconnect with them, now that hopefully you have some time for yourself? Taking sometime to make plans with them will introduce some diversity to your routine.
You may already be aware of the medicare mental health treatment plan that you can use to get some one-on -one help from a professional. Some companies provide time off for mental health reasons, if that's something your workplace provide. Whilst you are unable to take a full break from work, you can use the time in-between work in a useful way to do something you enjoy, something new. As someone with depression myself, after trying all sorts of hobbies and activities I have figured out playing boardgames relaxes me. On the plus side I get to make new friends while doing so.
Keep sharing your journey. Take care...
