Anxiety

Hi,

I’ve suffered on and off from anxiety

over my life and in recent years

it has been really difficult.
I am seeing a therapist to help me deal with it.
The most scary part is when I

get these strange thoughts/ feelings come over me they leave me feeling very strange. Words can’t always describe them and it leaves me thinking that I have something seriously wrong with me. It’s really scary.

I’m hoping that all they are is anxiety but wondering if anyone else has this.

Hello new member and welcome to the forum.  Please know that you have arrived at a place of non-judgmental community support.

I’m sorry that you are dealing with anxiety but really pleased to hear that you have engaged professional help. I haven’t experienced the type of feeling you have described but I’m hoping someone else will come along to help and perhaps provide some reassurance. However, I do think the best person to discuss this with would be your treating practitioner. They would be best placed to give you peace of mind or explore any potential new diagnosis.

Kind thoughts to you

Hi!! I have also been struggling with anxiety and I understand what you mean by having strange thoughts and feelings. Great to hear you are talking to a therapist!! My therapist told me that these thoughts that I have arise because when I am in an anxious state, negative thoughts/memories do flood in automatically, and it is sometimes hard to get rid of it at that instance. It definitely does not feel great when you don't have control over your own thoughts. Even though my experience may be different from yours. But just want to let you know do not feel bad and don't be too hard on yourself. It is a hard journey battling anxiety. You can share this to your therapist when you feel comfortable I think they would be of great help.

All the best

Hi thanks for your reply. It's good to know I am not alone in experiencing anxiety.

Thanks for your reassurance.

The hardest and scariest part is when it comes over me and I can't pinpoint what it is -

this scares me the most, but I assume it is a kind of panic attack. Iam working with my therapist and will try to go easy on myself.

All the best to you too.
