TMS WA

Hi..

I started tms a couple of weeks ago. Here we do 1 ten minute session a day, with the choice of doing two sessions a day. I have found the treatment incredible only after 9 sessions. The side effects vary from headaches and minor rollercoasters of emotions, though my last break I hit a very down low and found that having a weekend off from the treatment puts me back a little for I feel I'm invincible and over do it. Unfortunately we don't get any counselling support that comes with it where I am, so that makes it hard, not being able to express our effects, concerns etc. it would be nice to talk to others about this journey. Here in WA we are very fortunate to have our treatment covered by Medicare ❤️ I would love to hear others experiences.

Hi Sharz74,

Welcome to the Forums! We hope this can be a safe and supportive space for you to share your experiences.

Starting TMS is a big step, and it’s great to hear you’re already noticing some positive effects. You’re definitely not alone – we have several Forums members here that have been through, or are going through, TMS as well. Because it’s still less common than other treatments, it can sometimes feel isolating managing the process and its impacts on your own.

If you’re interested, we have a few other discussions about TMS you might like to explore:

It’s wonderful that your treatment is covered by Medicare, though it’s a shame counselling support isn’t included. If you’d ever like to talk things through, you’re always welcome to reach out to the Beyond Blue Support Service on 1300 22 4636 or via webchat.

Thank you again for sharing your story. Please feel free to come back anytime and let us know how you’re going - we’re here to support you!

Take good care of yourself today, Sharz74 🌻
Kind regards,
Sophie M

Hi Shari, Thanks for posting about your treatment. Ive just finished 35 sessions and agree with you about the counselling. I would say the treatment needs to be an entire program rather than a thing you just go in for and walk out again not really knowing whats real or a temporary placebo. I've found nothing on the internet so far in terms of a chance to have TMS conversations with peers or even counsellor recommemdations through the clinics.

Love to hear more about how life is going for you now and your retrospective thoughts on treatment. Nothing beats real converstaion when it comes to mental health.
