Hi 16sundayz,
Great to see you posting around the forum. Hopeful one of the other members might pop on this thread and offer a personal account of psychodynamic therapy.
I have had a look around for you and there a lot of complex research papers and really brief summaries about psychodynamic therapy and the best link I found was on the bluepages which is an Australia National University mental health initiative.
See link below. If you would like further links, let me know as I can post some others but didn’t want to overwhelm you with information. Another option is to ask your psychologist for some written information as they can then source an info sheet that aligns with their practice style.

Wishing you the best possible outcome,
Nurse Jenn

Hi 16sundayz,
Thanks for your post. Hopefully Nurse Jenn has given you helpful info but I guess I decided to jump in too since I've worked with a therapist who uses those strategies too.
Here's an article on CBT too. It's not an Australian one but I like it anyway because it's nice and simple - https://www.anxietycanada.com/sites/default/files/What_is_CBT.pdf
Feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Hi 16 sundayz,
Here a few other links.
This one is from along standing American mental health resource page called Psych Central. There is a summary and some background to this therapy type.
https://psychcentral.com/lib/psychodynamic-therapy/
The Australian Department of Health has made public a Literature review on the psychodynamic therapy which is quite detailed and research based. The review looks at several different studies and makes a conclusion on this therapy type. It offers some background to psychodynamic therapy and can be found here:
http://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/content/phi-natural-therapies-submissions-containerpage/$file/pacfa%20psychodynamic%20psychotherapy%20lit%20review.pdf
I still recommend you discuss with your therapist their explanation of psychodynamic therapy and how they will use this in your treatment. All therapists practice slightly differently and it would be best to get a summary directly from them on how they use the the therapy style.
Wishing you the best possible outcome,
Nurse Jenn

Hi 16Sundayz,
It is worth searching the forums for threads about psychotherapy too. Romantic and I have both shared our experiences with psychotherapy in this one for example...
www.beyondblue.org.au/get-support/online-forums/treatments-health-professionals-and-therapies/psychotherapy
It might give you a personal perspective along with the other links provided.
I wish you luck. Psychotherapy has helped me enormously. Might not seem so right now as Im unwell but compared to where I started it is such a positive change.
Nat
