Hi Nuttytech

Welcome to the forums. It sounds like you have a lot of different opinions, diagnosis and treatments which can be challenging. It is great that you are still reaching out to find clarity in your diagnosis and looking at different treatment options. As your job moves you around so frequently, it will be really tough to start engaging in the right type of therapy as I do not know of any online programs for NPD specifically. Sometimes people with NPD can experience anxiety and/or depression and CBT can be useful as you have already experienced. Another type of treatment option could be family therapy if your NPD is impacting relationships that are important to you. Also of benefit to many people is a practice called Mindfulness which can be very helpful if you are experiencing stress. There is a great app called Smiling Minds which can help you to learn mindfulness. Another suggestion might be to read some books specifically on NPD which you can take on the road with you. Having a better understanding of NDP may make it easier to find the right treatment you need.

In some locations, depending on whether you live remotely or not, you can possibly get support with a psychologist through telehealth but this is only for specific remote geographic locations. It would be in your best interest to discuss the availability of telehealth with a GP. I also wonder if you have any plans in the future to stay in one place for a bit longer where you might plan to start some therapy? A GP can refer you to a psychologist that may bulk bill so you wouldn't have to pay for sessions however this depends on where you live.

There are many people on the forum who have posted about NDP - try doing a search at the top of the screen and you may find support in some of the posts by other members. You can also contact the beyondblue support line on 1300 22 4636 to speak with a support staff anytime.

I do hope you find stability to be able to start some longer term therapy. And if you find any online programs that I haven't seen - please make sure you post them as I would be really interested to know what they are.

Wishing you the best possible outcome,

Nurse Jenn

Hi there. Any help is appreciated here, as I’ve recently been diagnosed with NPD. It’s been really tough because I’ve grown up thinking that narcissistic people are the worst people in the world. To now be told that I have NPD is very distressing. Is there hope for me to overcome this? At the moment I just feel like I’m an inherently terrible person. Who am I hurting? I feel so ashamed to be like this and I don’t know how to get through it. I’m seeing a psychotherapist weekly but it’s so hard to be functional for the rest of the time. I’m only really doing two things: lying in bed / hauling myself off to work and gritting my teeth as I try to pass off for a functioning human being. I can see that my diagnosis is correct and I don’t reject it from a rational perspective - but to accept it as reality and to be able to keep living is very daunting. Thank you. Any help is welcome.

I'm also looking for the same & have decided to ask my GP doctor about psychotherapy or counselling via telehelp.

I'm also looking for:

  • book to read
  • reading all the posts about NPD here
  • looking for a website about NPD

If you come across anything please post here!? Cheers.
