Being to the public hospital, being calling the local mental health service. Being told no more support under the public system. Still feeling scared, can't find meaning in life. Having problem with NDIS. Having private insurance but still need serve 2 months waiting period. Looking for supported accommodation. Anyone got any advice?

Hi Julia,

I feel that would be so scary & stressful. You must be so worried now...

I would gently suggest maybe looking up the following not-for-profit organisations online, as I think they might be able to help you find supported accomodation:

  • Salvation Army (Salvos)
  • St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies)
  • Anglicare

kindness and care,

Pepper

That is so difficult.
So the hopsital has absolutely no help ? Terrible. So disappointing.
Have yuo heard of Wellways? They have some good resources and help with accomodation I believe...
Sorry it's so hard 😞

Thanks for your advice.

I got help from hospital before but now no more. Thanks for your advice on wellways

Terrible. Did they tell you they can't help you anymore?
was the help good when you had it? Must be so hard to be left like that....

I wish i could help.
I also got help from the hospital - inpatient and outpatient. It was a good public hospital. Hope some of the new resources could help....hope you can stay safe and find accomodation

I feel really recovered when being admitted to hospital for one week. Since then, my mental health keeps deteriorates. Hospital and Community mental health keeps tell me to use NDIS But NDIA planner told me NDIS provide support for daily life not treatment!!!

I am considering to try a different public hospital. Do you have any suggestions?

That is so confusing. I've got a feeling I'm not allowed to mention specific mental health services/hospitals here. But personally, I do think you should try another hospital. Did you ever live in another area, or use another hospital? maybe that's good enough - just say you went there beore so you want to speak to them again.... I'm glad you got some recovery progress in one week in the hospital!! so good!! Now you need more help....

I recommend calling the Triage at another public hospital close to your area.

see how you feel on the phone when you call the other hospital - see how the person answers.... are they patient, do they listen, do they seem professional? You can tell a lot from someone's approach on the phone.
Maybe another hospital/triage will be better. They can make an exception maybe and admit you there??
worth a try maybe.

I only tried calling one other hospital, the nurse sounds nice but he rang my local mental health service and told me I better stick with my locals. Keep being declined help makes me more sad
