I think BeyondBlue are a fantastic organization. I have finally registered, partly because I was seeking some advice from others re meds and withdrawals. However I noticed that the Forums do not allow any mention of these topics. Where can I seek help? My doc is vague and I want some answers.
The sun still comes up every morning 😄

Hi longbob,
Welcome to the forums. We don't allow the mentioning of specific medication names, but it is ok to discuss meds and side effects generally. It's also ok to mention the class of medications you might be taking, eg. SNRI, SSRI, benzodiazepene.
One of our members, Beetle, posted here today with some advice on SNRI side effects. This is a great example of how you can have a discussion on here about medications, and also some great advice on how to go about researching your treatment.

Hi longbob
And like Christopher opened up with, "Welcome to Beyond Blue" and I would suspect that all the posters on this site agree with you 100% when you stated that Beyond Blue is a brilliant organisation. Hear hear. 🙂
What does concern me a bit is if your doc is vague about medications/anti depressants. That wouldn't fill me with a lot of confidence if he were treating me for my depression.
I don't want to turn you off your doc at all, but with depressive illnesses and symptoms, etc you need someone who is suitably qualified to assist you with your positive path forward. Just as another option if you'd like to do this (and absolutely no dramas if you don't - but I thought I'd just mention it, just in case you weren't aware) on this site, Beyond Blue have a large list of GP's that you can do a search on and hopefully you'll find one or more in your local area. These GP's are here because they specialise in mental health issues and as such would be beneficial to anybody seeking out professional assistance. They may decide you need further professional help and could refer you to a psych (or not, all depending) and they would be able to provide you with professional advice regarding which type of medication would suit you best and the best ways for easing into something like that (again, depending on whether they feel this would be the way to go for you).
I hope that all made sense.
Kind regards
Neil
