I can't get the help I need from mental health services because apparently everything I say is too triggering for other people. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that my safety is compromised simply because I need to explain my situation. I make sure not to even say anything triggering in the first place!

Hello Dear Spicy_pickle,
A very warm and caring welcome to our forums…
I’m really sorry you’re struggling to find the help you need and deserve from mental health…
Most psychologists and psychiatrists have heard things about other peoples trauma that we couldn’t even imagine…My trauma was long term, abusive and very degrading for me to talk about, it took me a while to feel safe enough to talk about it with both my psychiatrist and psychologist…They were very understanding, non judgmental and helpful….in saying that it took a few different psychologists before I found the one I “some what” connected too….
I don’t talk about my trauma and what I went through…except on these forums, because it’s anonymous, my Dr. and professionals….and a couple of people (family members) who were also witnesses and who also went through abuse from the same person I did….other then those people no one knows….because they wouldn’t understand, for me even talking to these people (family members) and with my professionals causes me horrible triggers….
Have you talked a bit to your Dr about what you went through and how it’s effecting your everyday living, so they can set up a mental health care plan for you with professionals that are trained to help you get through it all without judgement? if not is this something you’re open to doing?…
My kindest thoughts with care Dear spicy_pickle..
Grandy..

People use those excuses when they are trying to shut you down and dismiss what you have to say. As Ggrand said though if you find the right person they will listen, take on board, and try to understand what you have to say to the best of their ability.
Have you tried reaching out to close friends if you have any? Maybe they are in a better position to understand you and your nuances.
