Hi All
I am attending the Russ Harris 2 day ACT Conference tomorrow in Melbourne. I am really looking forward to it and hope that I can get lots of good information to share.

Hi KezzaA,
Hope you enjoy! I hear he is brilliant. I recently went to Dr Jeffrey M.Schwarz's Mindfulness talk in Melbourne, it was so informative. Will you let me know what it's like, perhaps something I can consider after finishing DBT.
Thanks
AGrace

Hi Kezza
I would be interested to hear how you went. I would have loved to have attended but it was too expensive for me at this present moment.
Let us know how it went. Thanks
Jo

The conference was fantastic! I really like the approach cos you don't have to dispute all those negative thoughts.
i was in a room with 140 psychologists and was initially a bit concerned that I was stand out cos I was the only 'client' there. We had to do role plays and guess what - they have negative thoughts and self doubts just like us.
Seems like I might be 'normal' after all.

Hi Kezza,
I'm glad you enjoyed the conference:)
It's true what you say about Psychologists they are only human too. I was only yesterday talking with my Psychologist about not really enjoying social occasions, and she informed me that she too would prefer to be on her own doing something quiet rather than being in a room full of noisy, drunk people having fun. I thought I was abnormal for not being able to feel joy when I'm at parties, turns out there's others just like me.

Hi AGrace
One of the questions at the conference was to list the meaningful activities you avoid doing (remembering that this is in a room of psychologists). The common responses were family functions and parties. Seems like we aren't so abnormal and that many of those psychs suffer from social anxiety....
