Wondering if anyone has treatment for BDP and has this helped for long term relationships with partners? Going to take my partner soon to see psychologist but from what I'm reading, it's very hard to change 😓

Hello Brendaa
It's really hard to say as it depends on your partners commitment to treatment and how much he wants to change. Maybe giving it some time and see whether there is an improvement might help and make your decision much easier.
Sorry that I can't help much, I hope that things will get better and easier for you

Thank you so much for your reply.. no it's actually helped me... Every bit of information and support helps.
Thankfully he's willing to change and willing to speak to a psychologist about what's happening. This is a good sign.. I just need to be patient I guess..
I wonder how many treatments are required for them to re regulate their emotions and get back on track....

Hey Brendaa - thanks so much for taking the effort and bravery in reaching out. One additional piece of advice I will offer is to try to not look at it in such a black & white manner, as in the last sentence you wrote saying "I wonder how many treatments are required for them to regulate their emotions and get back on track". I realise this world is new to you - but thinking in terms of hard stats/figures like that unfortuantely does not fit in the world of mental health - I can tell you right now that the number of treatments/sessions it'll require to start seeing changes in your partner will ultimately be however many sessions it takes. This journey is an entirely individual one to each and every one of us, and the progress one individual might make in a month may take another 6 months - it's important to trust in the process.
