Hi all,
I've been having a really struggling with my daughters anxiety. It has become particularly bad in the last week. She is seeing every thing in such a negative light and has recently started to not eat. She complains of a sore tummy but we have tried to explain that it is her worries. She just can't seem to find joy in anything anymore and has lost interest in some of her favourite activities. She will be seeing a school psychologist but i'm lost with what to do at home.

Hi michelethring,
It is hard to see family members feeling anxiety [and depression], to the point when it manifests into physical problems like not wanting to eat and having a sore stomach. Has she been able to convey what is making her feel that way?
I'm glad to hear that you have the option of the school Psychologist and she will be seeing them. They should be able to help with you with coping mechanisms for you at home.
Just mainly wanted to respond and say you're not alone, hopefully someone with some more experience in this area pops on.

Thank you for your reply. It is nice to know we are not alone. She won't verbalise what she is thinking so hoping she open up to the psychologist.
Just want her be happy again

Hi michellethring. As someone who was diagnosed with anxiety at the same age, I can say that her tummy problems might not just be her worries. Sometimes people with anxiety are also diagnosed with intolerances and IBS because it's all interconnected. I'd recommend getting it checked out as well. At home, I'd create a safe place for her. Somewhere she can go and feel at ease, maybe her room? Fill it with things she loves, if thats barbies or what not. Mum did that for me as a child and it really helped, I would retreat after school for a bit and feel happier.
Hope that helps.
