We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes

Exercised
worked on my chronic illness cause. Today was about thought management ie recognising unhelpful thoughts, examining the thoughts & then doing something helpful to alter my perception & re-think it in a more positive way
walked down to the bay, sat on the jetty & watched the fish jump
cooked dinner (it was yum) & cleaned the kitchen up

Hey J*!
LOVE YOU SHARING what you're learning! (Btw, THAT means you never have to apologise!)
It's how we can ALL learn, without sitting for hours reading lol, you just bring us the GOOD BITS!
Yep I'm FINE with that J* keep 'em rolling in. 😂
Hey Not_Batman!
We've MISSED YOU TOO!
Depression is a revolting thing. I hear you! And I know for sure many others here hear you too!
BIG HUGS. Now take that compassion and roll it up and feel it.
You are living a "shared human experience" for so many of us here.
So we absolutely get it.
You mentioned a close relative of yours going thru separation and it being very difficult.
It's even more important to look after ourselves in trying times, your compassion for them all was tangible.
Kristen Neff's online clips are great company in the bath! Take that from your ecomama lol.
She teaches self compassion in a very understandable, practical way.
LOVE the steps you're taking! Hugs for Mrs Not_Batman too!
Write AS MANY self-care things as you desire Not_Batman and everyone, I'd love us to fill the forums with them so we can help not only ourselves but everyone else.

Hey TheBigBlue
VERY powerful work you're doing with your thoughts. Kudos to you!
Love watching fish jump! Did you catch one for dinner? lol.
My self-care today:
* kindly stopped a colleague from talking to me about what she's going through atm. I did give her phone numbers for all sorts including Women's Legal Service, a trusted locksmith etc etc.
She needs Counselling, I could see her triggering (didn't tell her that). She's left work early 4 days in the past week.
I need to detach somewhat to complete my work. (My new office is right beside hers!)
I did phone her last weekend, which is an irregularity for me lol!
Gratefully I DIDN'T trigger.
* phoned my American Fiancee and wished him a Happy Australian Birthday lol. He gets TWO birthdays since he says his better half is Australian lol.
We had a BEAUTIFUL chat, such a sweet man.
* had a wonderful scrubby shower, did the whole facial thing & everything! TAYLA should be proud of me lol!
* organised more of my new office and worked out a timeline for getting some heavy furniture moved. I'm buying some things I need tomorrow night for my new office.
Thinking of digging up some Sanseveria from my garden for my office.
OMG a Kookaburra just landed on my balcony railing right in front of me lol!
There he goes flying away. How cute. 💜💚💙

Hi all,
well done to you Em, for protecting yourself and caring at the same time! Gold star methinks!
hi not Batman, I’m really touched by how you share your very real struggles atm. I’m so glad you practiced your strategies - I’ve noticed you going for a walk often, and returning a bit better, a bit clearer- and I’m glad your lovely Mrs is there for you. The clouds can get very low and dark sometimes can’t they.
big blue I’ve got that song ‘ sittin on the dock of the bay, wasting time...’ echoing in a lovely way in my head. Simpler times. Thankyou.
Today I watched an ep of a new series with the fam- has to be pg lol. Not a usual week nite thing so lovely and indulgent.
Then I ran a bath after the others went to bed.
while I was in the bath I began planning a holiday to NZ. Suddenly it seems like the perfect thing to do. Of course I will now have to make some money. That’s ok. It’s good for me to have motivation.
it’s been a sad day, won’t lie, so it’s nice to have a plan for happier times.
cheers,
J*

NICE self-caring peeps!
Hey J*! Thanks for the Gold Star lol!
Hey Tay! DOING well sweetheart!
My 3:
* took the kids shopping to buy school needs and a lot of WANTS lol. Bought Yvette a pretty expensive hair straightener for an early birthday present. Got Alexa a new phone in the family plan & she pushed for a great deal too! Unlimited data is always good to get lol.
* had dinner out with Alexa, grandkids and half my kids. It was YUM, I'm still full! LOVE sweet potato chips lol.
* went to bed early, fell asleep straight away lol. BIG day.
Wow I made it through my 2nd full time week at work lol. I enjoyed all the lunches and snacks I prepped last Sunday for work (my digestion is thanking me lol).
Maybe some Fridays I WILL join in on the delivery lunch? Think I'm asking permission lol.
Some habits are hard to break!

Hi all,
Good on you Em, Buying useful things and not scrimping is such a lovely thing to do, as is eating food with beloved family.
If you're asking permission for Friday lunches to be easy and a just reward for a working week, you got it from me! Make life as enjoyable as possible I reckon, especially if you're working and parenting full time!
Hey Tay, good to see you looking after yourself. I reckon it's the little things we do that show we care.
Today I :
Spent time in the library, just enjoying reading a 'new book' mag, and enjoying the whole community feel of the library. There were ppl queued up waiting for it to open! Special places, libraries.
I borrowed a DVD- Big Little Lies- surprised and pleased to find it there.
Talked back to the voice whispering that I'm no good. Staying open with H, so thats one less problem in my currently messy life.
Cheers,
J*

Hey J*, thanks for the permission slip lol!
I DID get the special Friday delivery lunch most colleagues buy on Fridays. It was YUM!
I went totally overboard spending last night, it's been a LONG time since I've done that.
IT WAS GREAT. Yvette feels very loved.
Btw you know I'm going to say YOU ARE SO WORTHY! Glad you got some quiet time in the Library, I love them too.
My self-care:
* bought myself Friday lunch at work lol.
* set up my lovely new things in my new office, getting there!
* texted my gardener to come on Wed but he can't. I told him I'm working fulltime this year and he offered to work on Saturdays or Sundays for me! OMG that's huge. I really love working with him in my garden so that's pretty special that he offered.
* BF and I are really able to open up to each other about some pretty deep things more and more, warts and all. Today he told me that no one has ever known him as well as I do. I said the same to him and it's true!

Great job @quirkywords for resting when you recognised you needed it, drinking lots of water and meeting up with a friend you hadn't seen in a while!
Today my self care was:
1) cleaning my room
2) doing a hair mask
3) speaking to a friend on the phone
