We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes

Hi kody love!
💚💙💜 A huge warm welcome to the BB forums and to this friendly thread! 💜💙💚
What a clever way of thinking of things and getting some motivation from those thoughts too!
I'm pretty impressed lol!
OH messy people!
I am fighting that inner messy person lol... well she's fighting with my inner TIDY person and lately my inner tidy is WINNING!
Winner winner chicken dinner lol.
I have LOTS of teenagers living at my house - luckily I gave birth to them otherwise... yeah.
So we've had a few Family Meetings lol and we've made decisions as a group to move towards a home where EVERY THING has a place and it all goes BACK to that place.
Easier said than done BUT I'm the only parent here so sadly I have to lead by example lol.
We're changing three whole bedrooms to other bedrooms and it's HUGE for us.
Having a VISUAL of what we'd like each room in our home to LOOK like is helping.
Chipping away at removing all things "surplus to our needs and wants" is a long process here but it's happening.
My heart goes out to you!
I'm feeling your pain lol.
Thankyou for posting your pearls.

Yay MMpedicure would feel so nice. Hae you been enjoying driving ur car with the aircon?
Oh wow SLEEPY! This thread has exploded! lol.
Thanks for keeping the ship steering straight ahead sweet thing!
Should I add the EXTRA self-care I did today... why not hey?
* got ALL dressed up to the nines with my spandangly new Christmas earrings and my brand new dress (2nd hand from an Op shop but looks like it was MADE for me)
* then went out for a work event & had a LOVELY dinner
* then followed my instincts and left an hour early... drove through the HUGEST winds I've ever seen up there - the otto bins were being thrown across the road! I phoned my daughter and we talked all the way through the lightning and storm and home again, where my pets were panicking so I locked them in the quietest room.
So that was my phone a friend when I was feeling a bit unnerved.
Thanks Sleepy. Hey.... get that pedicure, you deserve it!

Quirky those are SUCH WORDS OF WISDOM right there.
I like "learning opportunity" lolololol.... had billions of those in my life!
What word are you using instead of the EFF word (failure)?
Thankyou so much.
LOVE YOUR WORK!

- cancelled everything off my 'To Do' list and allowed myself to just rest
- got up early and attended to essential jobs to clear way for the above
- stopped by here with the intention of being positive...and here I am!
Today has been better. I've still got ME!
Hope this day has treated you all well, and most importantly, you've treated yourself well.
Goodnight xo

Wowzers, this thread got busy!
PinkFeather and Kody Love, welcome to the forums. You've both got some good self care happening. You too Doz and Quirky, some real healthy options.
Sleepy - thanks, the wetlands walk was great. You made me smile saying you like reading what I write (and can relate), I often think I get a bit long winded for most people. Can't help myself. Glad you've had some positive results from calling the hotline. And look at you ditching a bad counsellor and standing up for yourself with pushy people. Great work.
Not_Batman, you've got to be proud of that, you're doing great. Your quip about trademarking your analogy gave me a chuckle, too, I enjoy your humour.
Monkey - pedicure is great. I haven't had anyone do one for me, but I do my own at home. Feels pretty good.
EM - it's hard work, isn't it? But you know what? The satisfaction of finding out just how much we can do for ourselves is pretty good. Not that I'm suggesting we shouldn't be able to seek help if we need it. That's... just not worth going into, for now.
So, today my partner has been doing way better. He even went out to pick up a table for our breakfast bar. That allowed a lot more room for self care.
- Set up the breakfast bar with all the coffee/tea/toast stuff. So good to have those appliances off my kitchen bench, there was barely any room left to prep meals.
- Went for a walk with my partner. Not a long one, he still doesn't have a lot of stamina, but it definitely counts.
- Played a game with my partner for a little while.
- Had some choc ice-cream and berry sorbet.
