Small achievement you managed to do today....How did it make you feel? Did it help you feel better today?

Hi everyone..
Their are days when just getting out of bed is a huge achievement...Other days we can achieve things like washing up the dishes or clothes, sweeping the floors, mopping the floors..very mundane and automatic robot like chores for the mentally well...They do these chores without even thinking about them...for people struggling with their mental health..these are huge tasks...
Very often I’ll get my vacuum cleaner out to vacuum ...then it will sit their for days, me looking at it, walking over it...until I can get motivated enough to vacuum..after I do find the motivation to vacuum...I am pleased with myself...
Right now I have a small foot cycling peddle machine, sitting on my front veranda..I got it out last week..to start exercising..it’s still their, I’m still looking at it...My thoughts each night is I’ll use it for a few minutes tomorrow..
My car hasn’t been washed getting close to a year now I think...Today I did managed to wash it....and discovered that it has a nice shine on it.....I did it...I achieved something positive today..which made me feel better in myself...
Have you achieved a little something today...and how did it make you feel...If you want to share that achievement it might make other people a bit more motivated to achieve something they need/want to do..

Dear Grandy, you have put your finger right on one of my greatest concerns I have about going out on my own. It is precisely that fear I have about people being able to get very close to me before I am aware they are near. So, yes, I do wear my hearing aids whenever going out. The only time I can't is when I'm in the hydrotherapy pool, when the risk of unwanted contact is minimal anyway.

Today, I have washed my kitchen floor - it has been too annoying to be stepping onto it with bare feet, especially since I realised my new support worker hasn't noticed it needed to be mopped, & that I do have a mop... so I' did it with my mop, thenwent over it again with a cloth, under my foot, to try to make it as clean as I can. It doesn't feel like it can be clean enough at the moment, for my feet to step on it & not feel sticky or seem to still be finding more tiny annoying bits of whatever sticking to my feet. It is, however, very much improved, so I am appreciating my effort, thinking it's 'good enough'.

Dear Grandy, mmMeKitty, Quirky and Everyone,
Grandy, I especially love to photograph wildlife, landscapes and anything nature-related. But I enjoy other things too such as street scenes and musical and theatrical performances. I find most kinds of photography interesting. It seems to help me even when not feeling good, so it usually is worthwhile if I can get myself out to do it.
MK, I know what you mean about feeling all the bits on the floor when in bare feet. That is the thing that will prompt me too to do some vacuuming and mopping.
Today I woke with a migraine but medicated early so was able to keep it at bay. My small achievement was being able to go and buy lunch for my friend and bring it to her then spend the afternoon with her and her beautiful baby. Even though not feeling great I managed to have a lot of fun playing with her baby and being company for my friend.

It is 2:20am & I have just run a load of washing & hung it on the clothes horse to dry. It is the first practical thing I have done this year & we are already 5 days in. How do I feel - relieved I've done something at least.

Hello Dear Eagle Ray, Paws and everyone….
I had to check the calendar, Hmm already 5 days into 2024 and I haven’t even walked passed my front gate…..2.20am…is a great time to do your washing Paws…..We do what we can do, when we can do it,…regardless of the time…..Well done lovely Paws….
Tomorrow I go back to work, not looking forward to it right now though 😢…before I go back to work, I need to go into town to buy a few things, I need to clean my home, well enough to not feel bad when I come home from work….at least wash up some cups, plates, glasses and my entire collection of tea spoons…how much easier is it to get a clean one each time I have a cuppa tea instead of rinsing a used one😂😂…That definitely needs to change….I read once and I agree that waking up to a clean kitchen, dishes put away and a shining sink is a way to help ease those morning blues…
First thing I’ll do is to travel to town..a quick trip takes over an hour and a half (distance to town) …No, I need a shower first…it’s been 5 days since I done that…if I complete my today list…..that will be three things I’ve managed to achieve today….and I do so very need to get them all done today!…

Thank you for the encouragement. I also have the bad habit of grabbing a clean cup etc & just letting the washing up pile itself by the sink until I run out of clean ones. We both need to work on that one 🤔😀 .
My small achievement for today - I remembered to give myself permission to just spend some time relaxing without stressing over what needs to be done. So I've been online immersing myself in pictures of moss & the little worlds it creates thanks to the Moss Appreciation Group on facebook. I love how some of the pictures remind me of being little & looking for fairies.

I too am guilty of getting out yet another cup or teaspoon! I'm trying to practise not doing it and washing one instead, but it just seems easier at the time.
I love the idea of looking at moss Paws! How wonderful there is a Moss Appreciation Group. It reminds me of the Bathtubs in fields one you mentioned 😂 I totally relate to moss as something very healing and also something associated with childhood and fairies. There is some forest near me that's pretty dry at the moment, but in winter there is plenty of moss on the tree trunks and branches and all sorts of wonders in there, and wildflowers in spring too.
My small achievement is doing some research to keep myself together with a bit of a downturn in my mental state because the the cyclical nature of part of my HRT treatment. I felt absolutely wonderful for 12 days, but the cyclical component is dropped for the rest of a 28 day cycle. So my mood started dropping yesterday and is really much lower again today. So just staying at my computer and doing some research into it has been my small achievement. I'm catching up with friends visiting town shortly and somehow have to keep myself together and able to interact. Oh well.

Hello All,
Today my small achievement was pruning and weeding in the garden. I’ve had extremely severe depression and didn’t really want to move as just felt paralysed. But late afternoon I just forced myself. I pruned the jasmine vine which gets seriously out of control and duels with another plant that is also very domineering (don’t know the name of the other plant). Between the two of them fighting for light and space they had totally smothered another plant beneath. What amazed me as I pruned back the aggressive plants was that the plant underneath had produced all these little shoots coming off its stems like it was still fighting for life. That is exactly how I feel, that some part of me is fighting to stay alive even though other forces are almost destroying me. So I did my best to free this plant up as much as possible and it now has much more space and light without other plants smothering it. I guess I am trying to do the same thing for myself. I had great empathy for the plant and its resilience under pressure. Life is amazing how it does its best to keep living. I still feel horrendous right now but will try to visualise/imagine being a plant in recovery. That will be my homework going to bed and hopefully I will wake up feeling better.

Quirky, I can really understand how hard it is to go to work at times, you pushed through your tiredness and went to work, so very well done…..
Eagle Ray, You did well pushing aside your depression to do some weeding and pruning, well done…Saving that little plant from being taken over by the others was so good….Everything that has life, will fight with everything they have to say and flourish in our beautiful world…
Paws, I love moss, tried to grow it once, unsuccessfully 😢…Im lucky, through winter I have an area where the moss grows really beautifully…The dark green colour is really amazing to look at….I never looked on google for moss…I might give that a go tonight…thank you so much for inspiring me to do so…
My neighbours (Mrs nsc) son came shopping in our store yesterday and when I asked about his mum..he said she is grieving hard for her beautiful dog, who passed away on Christmas Day, so after I do some much needed clothes washing, I might try to make a cake..some cup cakes and visit next door for afternoon tea….Hoping that a good listening ear, a couple of hugs and some chatting will help her to feel a little better for a while….I loved her little dog, and I know how much she is missing her,…..(I am too), I used to take my 2 smaller ones over to hers so the dogs could play together…she has another beautiful dog..a Siberian Husky who I’m sure is also missing his companion….
That about all I’ll have energy to do today…

Hello lovely Grandy and All,
That is so lovely of you Grandy, thinking of your neighbour and wanting to support her after the loss of her dog. Yes, her Husky is probably missing his companion. Huskies are stunningly beautiful dogs and they were my favourite kind of dog when I was a child. When I was 5 years old we were at the local shopping centre at Christmas time. Santa arrived in a sleigh pulled by real Huskies! Today there would probably be OH&S rules that wouldn’t allow dogs in a shopping centre, but the world was a bit more free then. I remember me and my brother sitting unrestrained in the back of a family friend’s ute with our bikes hurtling down the highway. That would be seriously illegal now!
My achievement so far has been getting out of bed, eating breakfast and taking meds and supplements. I slept very little so now in bed again. I think my achievement today may be letting myself rest.
