positive energy

My tip for staying well when suffering from anxiety and depression- channel your energies into something positive , find something that moves you, help others, build a cause. After the death of my son to suicide i founbd that i had to make something good come out of the tradgedy, i wanted a legacy that would honour my son. So I became a volunteer for beyondblue and lifeline and with their support and the team from the blackdog institute I arrange mental health presentations and travel to schools and talk to the students. Over the last three years i have spoken to thousands of our youth and many have been helped. This has given me impetus in my life, something to strive and work for. In this I have found a true legacy for my son, i have found help for my depression and most importantly - have made a difference and helped others.

Dear Geoff, thankyou for talking to me. It is impoortant to reach out and help and support others. I have just booked anoither presentatioin at a catholic university to speak tto trainee teachers. This is a good initiative by the school, as these teachers will come into contact with thousands of kids inb their careers and are inb a position to make a difference. If they are trrained in picking up the warning signals they can save students lives. I currently have my name down to twelve other schools anbd three have rersponded thus f ar. Keep fingers crossed amd wish me luck and strength. regards katrinaxx

Hi Katos,

Thanks for your kind words.

Some time ago I started to write a book about the loss of our babies. I hope to finish it one day  as their loss has certainly added so much to my depression and other issues!

I am also very thankful that I have so much to treasure in this world.

I wish you well with all of your speaking engagements!

All the best to you, from Mrs. Dools
