I was just searching for an old thread here about how pets help us with mental illness/health and it seems to be gone, so I thought I'd start another one.

As some of you know already, I have a black cat named Buddy and he's my life, basically. I have no friends or contact with family currently, so he's it. Knowing he's around is a great comfort and during bad periods he's generally the only thing that gets me out of bed.

So, go ahead and share anything about your pets and make us all smile.

Jasper knocks on doors if he wants to go in or out. I have no idea when he learnt it or how, but he never took to a litter tray so he goes outside to do his business. If I don't take notice of him when he meows to go out, he'll push on the door so it makes a knocking noise. Now he does it when I'm on the toilet or when the bedroom door is closed etc. It drives me nuts sometimes!

I have a two and a half year old pure bred Tri coloured beagle.

After discussing as a family about getting another dog, we agreed on a beagle. I wanted a male, so my son asked if we could name him "Rusty". I found one online for sale not through a breeder, they had only had him 11 days, and couldn't keep him... So, I told my son the puppy may already know is name.

I did discover the pups birth date, was the same day as me... Too cool. I did ask the owners for pups name, but they never told me, we agreed to go meet pup.

We arrive, he's beautiful ... His name..... "Rusty" no joke.... We all laughed.

So "Rusty" is now apart of our family, he is so affectionate, and for his age compared to other breeds we've had, very well behaved, and very loved.

Hello my fellow pet lovers,

I have a cat. Shes Black white and brown. She’s an adopted cat. She was neglected and was a day away from being put down but a lovely adoptive company took her and nursed her to health. She must of grown up around dogs as she loves fetching the ball and barking yes barking at dogs lol!

She loves giving kisses on the lips and eyes. She is a big snuggle cat who loves to be carried like a baby.

I did though nearly lose her though as I dropped one of my tablets and forgot to pick it up and she ate it so after and exspensive night of getting her stomach pumped out she came through but ouch after that I got pet insurance!!!!

Shes my best friend and I love her so much. She is currently spooning into me fast asleep with her head on my arm.

Lovely topic.

As I like to tell about my 3 cat's. Kiki, Lissu and Queenie.

Cats are always on a wrong side of the door, if they out they want in, if they in they want out. Balcony door, One goes out, other wants in, I feel like a 'Doorman', just when I sit down, gotta open that door again. They have fur coats, I don't, and heater is doing its best to warm place up.

Winter time is luxury in bed, all three cuddling'ly leaning on to me, we all cosy and warm. But I need to be an acrobat to get out, without disturbing their sleep in a middle of the night. Harder still to get back in. LOL.. I love em dearly.

Loving all these pet stories!

Buddy is currently waiting at the back door (and looking at me) to be taken out on the lead (the only way he's allowed outside, because of a very abusive neighbour), so I guess I'd better give the "boss" what he wants 🙂

I have four dogs...

Two female 15 year old mini fox terriers called Chalk and Cheese, who I've had since the day they were born.

One male Husky called Scooby, he's my partners dog, 2 years old.

One male Huskador (husky cross labrador) who was a recent rescue, ten months old.

Love them all to pieces. They each have their own quirky personality. I've never been without a dog and hope I never will!

Buddy, Buddy, Buddy...

So, my phone is saying it's 7° tonight, so very cold. Buddy wanted in his leg tent but I needed a drink of water, so I gave him the usual “give me a minute and then you can jump in bed with me” speech.

He jumped off the bed happy enough and went to get a drink himself...and here's the funny part...

I said “come on kitty cat, come to bed” with a quick whistle while walking back into my room...and guess who came running?!

I'm seriously beginning to think my cat is part dog. I can't stop giggling at him 🙂

He's getting nice and warm in his leg tent now, so somehow I'll have to get comfortable around him and try and sleep.

When you come home all sweaty from a walk and your cat won't stop rubbing themselves all over you.

I'm now a tad furry 🙂

One of my min pins does the same thing with my sweaty shirts when they are on the bathroom floor while I am having a shower after exercise - she rubs her head and face all over the armpit area! My other min pin is more interested in rubbing his head/face/neck on disgusting things that he finds outside - kangaroo poo, dead animals, seaweed at the beach!

Hi Fred4761 and others

Just popping back in to say my min pin does the same thing--she likes to rub her head and face all over my throws on the couch. However, being a min pin, she is fussy and my princess really only likes the softest blanket. I've pretty much given it over to her! Min pins are funny little dogs. This is my first and I just love her curious, naughty nature.
