Hi Everybody
This is only the basic dictionary definition...
"Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment without judgement"
- Please be as blunt you wish....If you dont have an idea about mindfulness it would be great if you could let us know
- If mindfulness hasnt worked/or is too broad a concept for you it would great if you can let us know your thoughts too
- If mindfulness has helped you, please help others to help themselves by posting how you have embraced this mindset
It goes without saying that the forums are a judgement free zone and I really hope that everyone can jump in and have their say
Your input is highly valued no matter how you respond to this topic. There are no experts here...New Posters are Most Welcome!!

Hey blondguy,
You wrote: "Thank you Flick for helping out with your post re Brain Tuners...I have no issue if its new or old technology I will give anything a try." You are welcome blondguy.
"Do you know of anyone that has made a marked improvement?" Yes, lots of people...me included. There is a big and growing literature in this field.
"The more info the better 🙂" OK Google The Brain Reprogramming Doctor website....go to the Technologies Section and read that section.
blondguy is it possible to send you articles or attach articles or papers to BB? I've got LOADS of data.
Hope this helps,
Flick

Hey Blondguy and others...no one has posted on here since Anzac Day...obviously all off practising mindfulness....hey Paul....is this what I was doing in the following little scenario....is this mindfulness and did it do me any good? how do I know if it did or not?...here goes.....was on main street in town (always walk to and from my destination as quickly as possible to get out of the place and avoid too many people)..anyway.
..stopped for a minute for something and found myself looking...as if seeing for the first time....the middle section between two streets used as little sort of "town square" I guess, with chairs, tables, , paved with plenty of trees for shade etc.....it's been like that for years and years and I never ever noticed how lovely it looked....so peaceful, dappled winter sunshine for the few using the tables...quiet, well maintained....for a while I stood gazing at this scene that I've walked by a million times! I could have stood there for much longer (but what would people think of this crazy woman staring into space?)
Next time I could even sit at one of the tables....wow! but no, i couldn't do that...someone might see me!! they would think I had no friends and no one to sit with!!
How had I never seen how lovely it was? Who knew? Not me...I do now though. was this mindfulness Paul?

Hey Moon
Always a bonus to have you post anywhere on the forums, and thankyou 🙂
You have been 'on the air' for a very long time....you are a legend!
What you mentioned is 'mindfulness' as you were grounded in 'the moment' with little or no interfering thoughts happening....Nice1
Moonstruck mentioned in her post above ......

Hello everyone, wave to Paul and moon,
I was talking to friends of my cousin about mindfulness as they were asking questions about mindfulness and I found myself explaining a few things and giving examples similar to moons post and of losing yourself in an activity .
I smiled and thought how Paul would think it was funny that the questioning Quirky who is often struggling with concept of mindfulness is now explaining it to others!,
It was a weird thing, maybe a case of do as I say not as I do but I do try !

Hi Everyone!
Quirky.....What a great post....You are spot on about 'losing' yourself in the moment...whether its grounding ourselves or using distraction as a tool. Trying is halfway to having inner peace....a huge step towards recovery
Nice1 Quirky and thankyou 🙂
My kind thoughts always....and have a good weekend too!

Hello Everyone,
Today I woke up sort of ok, but within an hour or so, idk what happened I just got this feeling of being completely alone and then sadness enveloped me...I decided to sit out on my veranda for lunch. while I'm eating a sandwich a magpie sits on the fence just eyeing me off, I throw him some bread and down it swooped on to the dry brown grass and gobbled it up quickly. I continued to feed it, when another one came down, I ran out of sandwich so I went and got some bread, I started throwing pieces of bread onto the dirt, before long I had around 12 birds some different kinds all eating my bread..I kept feeding them until I ran out of bread....then I just sit here and watched them...They we're fighting each other for the bread pieces. when I went back inside, a hour and a half had passed..my sadness left me for that hour and a half....and stayed away for a while longer..
I had a mindfulness for 1 and 1/2 hours...

Hello everyone
Thanks Paul for your kind words.
Ggrand, I was entranced by your lovely description of the birds eating your bread and I felt calm reading your delightful words. I think we have these moments but we but sometimes we are in such a hurry we rush through them and do not savour the moment.
I hope the mindfulness changed your mood and improved your day.
Your bush setting sounds wonderful and I am glad you can enjoy it and envelop yourself in its beauty.

Hello Grandy (Karen) and everyone 🙂
Thankyou for the excellent example of mindfulness you posted!
By taking the time and feeding the magpie and the other birds you have found true peace for one and a half hours and then some 🙂
Those moments are priceless and yet can be wonderfully habit forming
Always lovely to read your posts Karen
Quirky....I also felt the peace that Grandy was describing...thankyou for being here
My kind thoughts

Hello Paul, Quirky and everyone 🙋..
I thought I would bump this thread up if that's okay...
I do mindfullness every morning, When the sun has a bit of warmth in it, I'll make myself a pot of tea and a piece of toast, then with the teapot, milk, sugar, toast on my tray I take it out on my veranda, give my dogs a schmacco each, then pour my tea..I then enjoy the flavour of my tea and toast as I feel the warming rays of the sun sink deeper into my skin, and I'm looking accross at the now empty paddock, the cows are gone, because of the drought, but I'm not thinking about them atm,I'm looking at the tall gum trees swaying in the wind, the white cockatoos a large flock lands and fossicks around looking for seed...i watch a mumma wallaby and her you Joey looking around for morsels of food....and I'm listening to the magpies the harmonies on them is amazing. .my daily mindfullness can go from 10 minutes to as long as an hour...when I'm really down with unhealthy thoughts my mindfullness practise lasts as long as I need it to do...I'm in no hurry to finish my mindfullness because I love the small amount of Peace it gives me and I'll stay as long as I need to to feel that peace at least once a day...
Grandy...🕊🕊.

Hello Grandy!
What a wonderful example of mindfulness and thankyou so much 🙂
You have brought up excellent examples of how we can 'drift' into a calm state using the surroundings we have
Grandy mentioned "my daily mindfulness can go from 10 minutes to as long as an hour...when I'm really down with unhealthy thoughts my mindfulness practice lasts as long as I need it to"
A Beautiful and wise post Grandy
my kindest thoughts for you
