My neighbour’s niece is having a health crisis, possibly cancer and is in hospital. I have spoken to my neighbour about this. I have not seen the niece in some months but I worry about her. I know they are not my family but they have always been nice to me and I want them to be well. Not sure where to proceed from here.

Hi Clara1,
Do you have any idea which hospital she is in?
If it is not too far from you, perhaps paying her a visit would be a way to lift her spirits and give you some peace of mind.
If it is not near by, it is unlikely the nurses will give you information on how she is, but it may be worth a try.
Take care,
indigo

Hi Indigo,
Thanks for your advice, it was helpful. I found out that the niece has RSV so I have decided not to visit her in hospital as it may be contagious. I have more peace of mind now that I know more about what is going on.
