Hi, I would like to hear what other people have to say about Dyslexia and learning disabilities?

I am 45yr old,was diagnosed with bipolar disorder when I was 38,stayed in hospital for 8 weeks, and I was put on medication for ADHD when I was 42.

6mths ago I discovered I have discovered that I am Dyslexic and or learning disabilities.(undiagnosed by professionals) I don't know a huge lot about and find I am going around in circles.

What I'm struggling with is what to do about it,

where to go for advice,

is it common with mental health,

other people's stories,

This is all new to me any advice would be great

Hey there 9NL

ADHD and LD diagnosis as a child is hard enough, let alone getting it as an adult. May I suggest you have a look at the EveryDayWithADHD website. Their based in Sydney and specialize in adult onset.

Hope this helps

Thanks SB,

I will look them up to.

Hope you are well and having a good weekend.

Hi SB,

I looked up what you said, all I could see was stuff about ADHD

I am more looking for things on dyslexic and learning disabilities. Not sure if I have ADHD am on that medication to stop my mind from racing, but it also helps to keep major depression at bay.

Thankyou anyway

Couple of Examples of how my mind works

I have watched sooo many footy games over the years but

I have no clue how it is played, who is what team, how many players,if it's a try, forward pass,or when the he'll it was the Knights one and there was a massive parade that we all cheered and drank heaps of beer. The only thing I liked was checking out the bodies 😬

Do you get what I am trying to say,any stories?

I am mostly on my iPad,today I went to the main home computer and for whatever reason it had shut down,I tried twice to put in password and failed, I didn't try again in case I totally shut down, with this I get really pissed off as it is a simple everyday task. I could of rang hubby, but how many have I done that.

Then I made minestrone soup from scratch without a recipe.

Then I made caramel banana cream slice without a recipe.

My point is I can't even Remember my postcode. Yet something's just come to me.

I don't memorize player statistics, or names, or game strategies. And most of the rules I don't get either.

  • AFL is okay to watch, well it is when you are part of the atmosphere of the cheering crowd, but I don't get it.
  • NRL is okay to watch, well it is when you are part of the atmosphere of the cheering crowd, but I don't get it.
  • Cricket bores me, but it is more interesting than those other british sports: badmitten, tennis, croquet, polo.
  • NFL is okay to watch, well it is when you are part of the atmosphere of the cheering crowd, but I don't get it.
  • NBA is okay to watch, well it is when you are part of the atmosphere of the cheering crowd, but I don't get it.

"The only thing I liked was checking out the bodies" Well said, if it were not for the cheerleaders... to entertain those of us who don't have a clue about the game on the field... why would we even go?

Ps 1%

What are all those old commentators at the end?

The commentators?

IMHO if you didn't managed to fall asleep watching the game on TV... then the commentators are there to whitewash the boring bits (so as to make them appear exciting to the advertisers paying to air the game), but in reality they are there to remind you of how bored you were, during the game, and in the most boring way possible as a means to ensure you fall asleep.

Seriously but, the only commentators ever worth listening too were Statler and Waldorf from the Muppets.
