By this time next year I plan to...

Hi all,

This thread has been inspired by the program 'This time next year', a TV show where people pledge to work on changing something in their lives within the space of a year. It could be anything, overcome a fear, lose weight, learn a new skill, overcome illness, get fit, anything at all. It doesn't matter how big or small it is, just something that's important to you. Hopefully, this time next year, we can look back and reflect on what we have achieved, with updates along the way.

So I will kick it off;

By this time next year...

I would like to be back working or doing something with my life to feel more independent and better about myself.

I haven't been called Princess for a long time. That was my pet name. Thankyou.

That doesn’t sound silly to me, it sounds frightening.

Props for such a brave ‘resolution’ I wish you all the best of luck with it and hope to hear all about your ‘conversations with strangers’ (maybe it will give me the courage to do the same next year)

By this time next year I plan to finally have started building on land out North West New South Wales even if it' just a small cabin and have Christmas back home in Tasmania. Time to go home and face where my problems started. I can and will be strong enough this time next year...

By this time next year I plan to...

  • be answering this question ... again
  • be wondering what happened to the year just gone
  • be dreaming up something cool to do next year
  • be trying to remember what that cool thing I dreamt up last year
  • be hoping this year's cool thing isn't the same as last year's cool thing

Hmm... maybe I shouldn't plan anything, and live life as it comes.
Least then I can't be disappointed for my plans not working out.

New year resolution: I resolve to not resolve anything... no don't be silly... I resolve to ____________.

Best wishes everyone

This time next year I want someone to be able to tell me that I am different - that I've changed, that I'm happy.

I'm doing things I enjoy, that make me feel good (about my body, but also mostly about my mind - my self-worth). I am making my mental health my absolute priority: pushing myself to keep an exercise routine because I've found it helps me, eating healthy and taking care in how I treat myself, reading and writing stories because it makes me happy and reminds me I am of value. I'm finding the things that help me and sticking with them 🙂

Oh my goodness, such beautiful words from everyone and yes, hugs are good. I find it inspiring to read everyone's hopes, plans and dreams as pepper mentioned. We all have things we want to achieve for different reasons - build confidence, gain independence, improve our life...

We need to allow ourselves time because we all have ups and downs, we take one step forward and two steps back cos that's what MI does to us. I hope we all come back here to reflect and remind ourselves of our pledge and keep everyone updated.

If we don't achieve it, that's ok we had the guts to put it out there, sometimes that's half the battle.
