Loneliness... What choices are there?

Loneliness is one of the cruelest underestimated places to be in life. Most of us need people.

This is all too common & wayyyy too many suffer this.

What's out there to help people?

Forums is a good place for many that are shy or depressed and not comfortable face on.

Excercising outside, amongst people, eye contact often connects a smile with people. Lifting

Here & assuming other places in Oz there's through community centres volunteers that visit, take shopping, talk, listen etc or phone calls weekly. (GP would know more)

Public transporting, around people, even if not engaged in convo, still amongst it

Interested hearing suggests

This shouldn't be

Hi all ☺

Good input here. In reply to what do we do Grandy

I tend to have motivational problems although I walk in the day and yes thanks Random I have started reconnecting with friends, it's the nights that are hard. Mostly I watch TV.

I heard somewhere recently on a thread about libraries can have info of groups or outings.

Coach day trips could suit some people being around others

Sometimes I do art although haven't for an age.

I think craft groups are a good idea cause it can be mentally stimulating and giving the mind something to focus on.

Bronte Hi ☺ you mentioned computer games and PS2 they're fun. I haven't got back to those but they are great on many levels. Concentration, figuring out, hand eye co ordination, achievement, time, observation and the list goes on. Games can be played against real people too.

The dolls sound great Grandy. It is good to have things to occupy our time.

I also sleep a lot which I thinks from boredom.

Hi to all and l hope things are ok,

How's the new area going Bront ? And your right yaknow it does work to just make sure we get out, no pressure no nothin , every day or every 3 , or whatever , no expectations just some air and people around if nothing else. Have you been trying it. love the saddle, got onto that yet how's it going? l'm an ex horse person myself actually, might even get back into it where l hope to move has a lot of bush on outskirts , great riding , never know.

Well l've only put a base coat on the owl, but man he is one cool little dude , he even looks good with just the patchy base coat. Lots of shyt goin down this last week or 2 though so l haven't done anymore. He's just been living on a 4ltr paint tin on the ktchen table for a week or two now so l study him as l come and go. Been a really , really , and one more really , shytty week though so it's really not a good idea touching paint in that frame, l'll get back to him later on when it's safe haha.

Just to grandys thing too and what do we do of a night well l'm male so yaknow, things are different but, as in alone these days well. with this last week or two being what they have l've gotten home lit a fire and jumped into bed. Emailed with some friends and stuff. Other wise though this town l swear shuts down at 6pm so just forget it unless you know people maybe. l watch movies or music or mess around with projects like owls , nothin much.

Hope everyones doin ok

rx

Hiya all ☺

I think it's great you all have a project, it kills time and gives the mind distraction and something to work towards.

My Mum was an avid reader and she said yrs ago that I've not forgotten. If you have a good book, you have a best friend. They are good company.

Hope your days are good ☺

Hello Everyone,

I found the PlayStation 2 console and a stack of games...I started getting it out but you know, it's not the same, my husband, sons, and I used to play mostly together, just not the same anymore, I didn't even unpack it, it can stay in the box and in the shed...

Some days are more lonely then others..today is one of them...I think I will try to sleep today away...

Kind and caring thoughts..

Hi Grandy and everyone

I'm very sorry to hear you're feeling how you are Grandy and can relate to everything you said.

Regarding the Playstation ditto with my darling late partner and I've been over a long period of time feeling same and lately I've thought and experienced often it's the anticipation that often is harder so I'm going to bite the bullet soon, maybe we could do it together (at the same time) and talk about it after if you like, we could help eachother. The other thing I've recently been thinking is to remember and appreciate the good memories but tbh on saying that I'm feeling nostalgic with sadness but I'm wanting to get past this. Ok if you don't want to ☺

Not that I do it often but to fill a void which has been mentioned here by Grandy is the RADIO. Apart from music there's the talkback times too. People can ring in and chat.

Company and it's also been mentioned but TV on in the background.

If people have an interest or hobby often there's clubs for them. For those that are uneasy around people there might be ONLINE clubs like craft, stamp collecting, woodwork etc and people to talk with with common interests.

Hope your days are improving

Hi Grandy, Demonblaster, Randomx and all,

I am sorry you are not feeling feeling too good Grandy. I hope it passes for you, thinking of you.

Do you all find weekends worse for lonliness?

Randomx, i am starting to know my way round the new area so that is getting better, thanks. My trouble is i am more at home in a paddock than the city, horses are good company too. It does help me to get out even if it is for a walk and to see other people, ill try to keep that up. Your owl sounds like it has character 🙂.

Grandy, your crochet and dolls sound interesting.. Have you had a look online on ravelery. com they have lots of patterns, some free. I get on there just to read sometimes.

The saddle is coming up well, it was pretty dry and is still soaking up the oil, looking like there might be a bit of life left in it.

Thank you for all being there and for your messages. I find them comforting.

Take care all, hope you are all ok.

Bronte

Heya bront and all.

Nothin wrong with being more at home in a paddock bront , l love them in fact , Not sayin l could be bothered or even into nightlife right now but if l'm in a town l do like stuff happening around a town yaknow , people , some life, long story why l'm here though but anyway. But hey l haven't oiled up horse gear for years , gonna be nice hearing how the saddle comes up.

But yeah , the weekends are shocking , l'm not thaT Much of a people or friend person but l am a partner person and the wkends really bite on that one especially lately. At the mo l feel like l'm killing time, as if on hold , l;m told things are coming and holy Toledo , l hope so . l think l can feel it too but that would be when and if l dig myself out of this mess right now, but l never know if l'm right until whatever it is does come along soooo, we see l guess. l sure don't wnat them to go on like this forever though/
