I have been struggling with anxiety and depression for a very long time. I am struggling to make new friends and I am not sure how to cope with my anxiety and depression. Sometimes it’s hard for me to get through the day I struggle to do anything

Welcome to the forums and thank you for your bravery and openness in sharing here. It’s a really good place to have come to hear from others who understand what you’re going through. We can hear how difficult it has been lately, we’re so sorry that’s been going on.
It can all feel really overwhelming. If you ever want to talk through what you’re feeling right now, we’d highly recommend calling the Beyond Blue Support Line on 1300 22 4636. The counsellors there are super kind and supportive, they’re understanding and can be good to talk to right in the midst of the anxiety symptoms. You can also reach them via web chat.
Our community will be able to relate to a lot of what you’ve been going through and be able to share some of the methods that have helped them.

Hi Patricia,
Acknowledging how you are feeling and reaching out for help is a brave first step. Beyond Blue's information below is a great place to start.
If you haven't already, I would recommend speaking with your GP and requesting a therapy referral. Psychologists can assist you with your feelings of anxiety and depression and with social skills to help you make new friends. Navigating friendships as an adult is surprisingly difficult!

I'm so sorry you are going through this 😞 i also am in the same boat, i can definitely empathize with you...it's just awful! Motivation is completely gone, and it's a struggle to do basic things, like cleaning the dishes or doing laundry...I now sleep till 1-2pm i find waking up later helps the day go by quicker, which is no way to live i know....but it's my coping mechanism for the time being, sleep is my savior....what do you find you do most days going through this struggle? Are you working?
