I feel for you. Trauma is awful to go thru, even someone else’s I presume. You must be a very caring person to take other lives onboard. Can you not try to find a trusting person to talk to?
I feel if I get it out, or even write it down that I do feel a bit better.
Good Luck

Dear New Member~
I'd like to welcome you here to the Forum, and thank you for supporting that poster in the "Can't Stop Eating" thread.
I'm just a little confused as here it looks like you might be talkng to a particular person -have I missed something or just misunderstood?
Even in general you are right in what you say, it takes someone with empahty to care enough to try to assist those with trauma, and it can be difficult not to be overwhemed by their troubles. Carers too need support, nobody is a bottomless well of strenght, and talking with and being guided by an experence person one trusts makes a world of difference.
I also agree that keeping a journal, whether on paper or in an app can help, setting things (both good and bad) down can make one feel them less and help put them in perspective.
May I ask if you have someone you are caring for?

Hello Chezza,
I'm not sure if this thread you have made is a response to my response to your other thread:
I was here around 12 months ago as”cdtofi”
or not?
I would like to repeat here, I have found I can trust my psychiatrist (PDr),.
What I didn't say was that I don't have 'real life' friends nor close family, & indeed, I realise I cannot trust details of my past with my support workers.
If I could be more open on BB, I would. I don't want to 'censor' myself, if in any small way what I had experienced or witnessed could help someone else. I have begun to think that is a useful thing that can come out of my past.
However, It's hard for me to become involved with the strong emotions which may come through here on BB, so I don't 'get involved' much anymore. I'm not comfortable with all the emotions stirred up when discussing past traumas with others. I have felt quite overwhelmed, so I have stepped back to care for myself. & that is something else I have learned - that I need to consider myself & to recognise when I need to step back. I see it as an exercise in setting boundaries, my own boundaries. One thing I was ignorant of until into my 30's.
I do want to emphasise that you will find a safe place here on the forums to talk about whatever you need.
Whether caring for someone else or for yourself empathy is a wonderful thing; it keeps us from being cold & indifferent to the needs of others & even to our own. (Oh, I wish I could write that a little better, but I think you can see what I mean)
& yes, Chezza & Croix, are both right - carers may well be in just as much need of support as those they are caring for.
Hugzies to you both,
mmMekitty
