Is It Really Possible To Have Long term relationship when you have PTSD?

My question:Is it really possible for someone with PTSD to have good, healthy, fulfilling long term relationships? I'm afraid having PTSD may doom me to a life alone as I don't want to subject someone to unpredictable & ever changing moods. I don't feel like a very fun person to be around anymore, even though I know I'm still very loyal, reliable, encouraging person.
I am looking for some honest answers, advise or tips anyone can give from their personal experience.
any books or resources you could recommend I read?
with much appreciation

Hi TBella
Whilst I havent had PTSD as such, I have had a range of anxiety and depressive related incidents. It can be disabling or disheartening in terms of building long term relationships, but I have persisted. As I have met a person and grown closer, I have learnt to slowly share more and more insights with that person as I felt comfortable and the mutual trust was growing. This has helped me in developing long term relationships. In saying that, I am still extremely cautious about sharing too much about myself with anyone, as I have had my trust breached many times.
Good luck, keep posting and there will be others here that can suggestio different resources for you. Check the bottom of this page as there are resources and links that you may find helpful.

Thank you Quiettall
My biggest issue with my my PTSDis I struggle to trust people as everyone in my life has abused or abandon me. Something I probably need to work on with a Psychologist! When I find one who specialises in PTSD!
I apprecite your post & shall check out the resources! Thanks again 🙂
