CPTSD & Royal commission into domestic violence

Miss Odette
Community Member

Since all the news on television and the upsurge of violence /murder against woman lately.

Has anyone found their CPTSD has been exacerbated.? If so how are you coping with the situation.?

It is my wish to write to the Royal Commission regarding a most serious incident which included grievous assult occasioning. And other incidents not to be mentioned here.

ONE SMALL VOICE. I want my voice to be heard. I have thought long and hard about this but feel I have to tread gently as not to place myself at risk. The incident happened many years ago. And I know how I was mistreated ( not by all) and do not wish other women to endure the same. I have never done anything like this before.

Has anyone any practical suggestions. Please.? Regarding how they manage stimuli of their CPTSD.🦋

Kind Regards Odette

Hello Dear Miss Odette,

I l so have CPTSD from a violent childhood and marriage…I used to watch the years many many years ago and was constantly triggered by the violence shown and described on the news….I stopped watching or listening to the news years ago, also I’m very selective with the tv shows/movies I watch…, I do this to protect myself from triggers…these triggers I can control by not watching/listening to the news…other doily life triggers I have no control over so I am very aware of the things I do, people I associate with etc…

Odette, sweetheart every letter that the Royal Commission receives is joined to the other lettered to make a huge pile of “one small voice ” to become huge…if you feel you would be helping your mental health by writing a letter to them…by all means do what you need to…

Odette, I’m wondering if you’re able to turn the news off when it comes on, to protect yourself from triggers?…knowing what triggers us and putting boundaries in for ourselves to protect and care for our mental health is so very important..

My kindest thoughts with care dear Odette..🤗

Grandy..

Hello dear Ggrandy, just a note.

☆I have an update on family estrangement to blowfish I was hoping to copy to you too. Please read. It's all good.☆

I'm saddened to read you endured a violent childhood and marriage. I can only imagine. The violence I recieved was a preditor after my husband left .I was on A property and not allowed to leave for 6 weeks. Can't discuss it .

I have recieved notification and guide lines from royal commission . They will also open part 2 of the commission in September. I will endeavour to put pen to paper.

Thankyou 💖 your words are with me about 1 small voice added to many. I will hold those words with me at my desk as I compose.

And I will keep you updated.

I try to watch the first 15 mins of the news but when things become triggering I switch to bargain hunt or escape to the country on 72. If things are horrid I turn the TV off and listen to a book.

I was triggered last fortnight in the westfield saga they evacuated due to kids with battons and knives. Still hyper vigilant to a degree. Not going to let it take over my life.

Do take care please it's lovely to communicate with you. 🌺🦋 Odette.
