Bed wetting after sexual assault

This is quite embarrassing but just wondering if anyone else has been through it. I was sexually assaulted a year ago and almost immediately after began wetting the bed, I have never been a bed wetter not even in childhood so its very upsetting.
It has gotten so frequent to the point that I've stopped staying at family and friends houses and have started to isolate myself. I haven't told my doctor or psychologist about it because I'm so embarrassed and feel like a freak.
Has anyone else been through this and did you overcome it?

Hi Missymoo93,
Thank you so much for posting this! I have gone through a similar thing. I was raped as an adult and immediately after began wetting the bed. I was so ashamed. It has been a year since the that happened. I have only recently began to talk to a psychologist and trusted friends and family about what was done to me.
The bed wetting made me feel even more alone. It’s only recently that I realised there was probably a connection between the abuse and the lack of pelvic floor control. And your post is what came up when I googled. So thank you for sharing this experience, I don’t feel so alone in that struggle. I know you shared this years ago, I hope you’ve had help to work through the trauma. For me, it helped to limit what I drank in the hours before bed and make sure I went to the toilet before bed. I often have dreams that I am going to the toilet, and that is when I’ll wet the bed. It has helped to recognise that and sometimes in my dream I’ll wake up before I wet the bed and make it to the toilet.
It’s so embarrassing to discuss as an adult, I’m glad I’m not the only one who has had this experience.

Stellaluna, welcome to this supportive forum and well done for helping others with your first post.
As you can see this thred has not be used for a couple of years. You can still post here but if you want for more people to see your thread you can start your own thread.
I appreciate your honesty and by posting here you will help those reading .
I have had bladder issues all my life, not related to an assault, but I know how embarrassing it is and how difficult it is to tell others.
Take care
Quirky
