I am new to this so lets see how it goes.
I have been diagnosed with Depression and GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder) I have been changing meds for the last few months with the guidance of a Psychiatrist but recently I feel as though they just aren't working.
I am constantly feeling like my heart is going to jump out of my chest. I feel like I am going to be sick. I don't want to eat, I don't want to do anything! I own my own business with my husband and I don't even want to go to work. I just want to sit and watch TV. I have recently put on 13kg's with the latest change of meds. I am the BIGGEST i have ever been and not liking it. I am jumpy and everything my husband and daughter do I find something wrong with it. I am over feeling like this, I am over being like this. I am just over it altogether.
How do people cope with their ups and downs? I am struggling!

Dear JPR
Welcome to Beyond Blue and thank you for coming here and posting.
Firstly congrats on coming here and posting your story - and congrats also on already going to a GP and a psyche to have yourself diagnosed. Huge steps and positive ones.
With regard to the meds, if you feel they aren't working - please discuss this with your psyche. The other concern with them is the weight gain aspect that they appear to have caused. I would be going to see your psyche and discussing this and to try to get off these. There are so many varieties of meds out there now, your psyche would be best able to determine which other variety would be beneficial for you and also I believe that not all meds have that unfortunate side effect of putting on weight. Something to definitely chase up.
Being nervous/jumpy is a side condition of anxiety, and so with your anxiety disorder this would be why you're having those symptoms.
Again that's something to discuss with your psyche as there are meds out there for the relief of anxiety.
How do we cope with ups and downs - well I think we're talking largely about the downs here JPR - and that's the tough situation that we all find ourselves in. The struggle to get up each day and to get through the mundane home activities (if we're able too) and then continue on throughout your day. It is hard.
Do you have any activities/hobbies/interests that you enjoy doing? They can be as simple as going for a walk, or reading a book out in the sun; listening to music, etc etc. Exercise is also another biggie when it comes to mental health issues; and especially with regard to the weight that you've put on. Even getting out for a walk for 20-30 minutes can have a positive impact on you.
Would love to hear back from you.
Kind regards
Neil
