What do I tell my GP?

Tarranna

I have been seeking help for depression for nearly 33 months now and find myself loosing it more and more often over the past few months. I have been keeping my GP up to date with my medication detals and support newtork details, but my frends, family and myself are getting worried that I am getting worse and even my treating pysicoligist has asked my permissing to break confidance.

I'm not sure where to go from here and I don't know what to tell my GP.

Hi Tarranna

Welcome to this site and good on you for reaching out to here … you’ll get support, advice and people who genuinely care, while they also suffer themselves (or have suffered in the past).

I’m assuming it is your psychiatrist who is monitoring and prescribing your medications?  That’s the same as my case also … my GP (a lovely caring man) just goes along with the flow.

Can I please ask what it exactly means with your psych(ologist)? is asking your permission to break confidence?  To or with whom?  And if so, for what purpose?

I guess this psych has been with you for the majority of this 33 month period?   Which would mean they’ve got a massive history/background about you.  Do you feel comfortable and happy with:  (a) your GP  and I guess more importantly, (b) your psych ??

I hope you can get back to us soon … oh and when is your next GP appointment?

Kind regards

Neil
