Unsure if depression

Julykj
Community Member

I need help. I am constantly in a bad mood. I just can't seem to snap myself out of it. I just can't be bothered. I don't want to be involved in any social situations. I'm constantly tired but sleeping like crap. Where do I go? What do i do?

Hi Julykj

Have you checked out some of the stuff on here, eg the Depression checklist. Are you exercising? only asking cos I get like this sometimes when I haven't been exercising much. With me, and not necessarily you, I find I always feel better after socialising with people, but I'm someone who needs others around. Not sleeping properly is the pits and makes it so damn hard to function properly throughout the day. if you think it may be depression go and see a good doctor sooner rather than later cos it won't just go away (if it is depression). Look after yourself and all the very best.

hello Julykj, feeling this way is terrible and from how you have described your condition it does seem as though you are horribly depressed, but that diagnosis would have to come from our doctor, and that's what you must do book an appointment with your GP.
Firstly if you google the K-10 test which will ask you several questions and then give you a score, the higher the score means that you are certainly suffering from depression, but I would take the test different times of the day, then you can take this with you when you see your doctor.
You can't blame yourself for feeling this way, I know that it maybe easy for me to say, but when you have gone through this yourself you know how other people feel. Geoff.

Hi Julykj

Welcome and good on you for having the courage to post too!

These feelings can be awful as well as a drain on your mental energy which only intensifies the problem.

Geoff an Sowtey are spot on above with their advice. I hope you can make a double appointment with your GP today and make the first step towards feeling better. They have great training nowadays on these matters

Please dont be too hard on yourself as these feelings are very common and can be treated.

I really hope you can stick around the forums and let us know how you go 🙂

please be gentle to yourself

Paul
