Hi Shell
Welcome to Beyond Blue and you've been given two great responses to your post. Taking care of yourself is a crucial thing - you've got to do this - otherwise you will spiral further and further down and you won't have the energy to fight. Hence you need food to fuel your body to help you keep up the battle.
Please take up Mel and Matty's advice.
And now my 2nd major reason for posting to you ... is that YOUR dog in the pic? If so, that dog looks absolutely gorgeous. I love dogs ... is that water or the beach in the background?
Kind regards
Neil

Thanks for your replies guys it means a lot. I would just like you to know that I come to this site most days and read your posts and have been doing so for quite some time.
I couldn't face going to a doctor right now I have tried anti depressants before but they made me feel really weird, I was told my eyes looked strange and I looked drugged up and my pupils did look like saucers. I don't really think they work for me.
Everything has been going really bad this year....
Hi Neil yes its my dog her name is Angel, she recently had 8 puppies she had to have a c section in the middle of the night it cost a lot, they have gone to their new homes now 1 turned out deaf. Ive kept one puppy and called him Ziggy.
Im going to be a first time grandmother tomorrow Im scared to be happy or excited about it because things always seem to turn out bad when I do.
sorry this post seems to be all over the place lol.

Hi Shell
You’ve said that this year has been bad for you – I’m so pleased that you’ve taken this step to reach out for support from the Beyond Blue community. We will support you for as long as you are willing to accept us doing that. 🙂 We will also try to provide as good advice as possible and sometimes even helpful advice. 🙂
But you’ve made one important step forward and that’s by coming here.
I do honestly believe that you really need to seek out some professional assistance as well. I know you’ve said that you can’t take that step just yet, but please please think strongly about this.
Perhaps if you try and choose one from this website – not sure if you know or not, but Beyond Blue have listed a number of GP’s who are all trained to deal with mental health issues and if you do a search on the website, you just may come across one or two in your local area.
From there, they would be able to do a thorough check on you and perhaps be able to recommend you to a suitable counsellor or psych. And if you can find the strength in order to do this, please talk to the doctor about your previous encounters with medications – give them the names and dosages that you were on – and tell them of the effects that they had on you. Out in the market now there are huge numbers of medications that can be taken – and so the GP should be able to prescribe a different lot of medications – on the proviso that you actually need them.
Hey and congratulations on being a first time grandma … that IS exciting – I have no doubt that it will all turn out beautifully for you and it will be something to make yourself extremely proud.
Great that you posted and would like to hear back from you when you get a chance.
Neil

Congrats on being a grandmother. Hoping that has made you feel better about things & given you something to smile about. As for the meds, it can take a couple of tries to find the right ones for you, so I would seriously think about going back to the doctor. It's worth it & you will be able to truly enjoy being a Nanna when you find the one that works for you. Xxx

dear Shell, I can't really add any more than what these wonderful people have said to you, but can I also add that I became a granddad, which I didn't want to be called, nor pop, but she's only two years old and she calls me Grugie ( after a kids book ), and when I ring her or dad rings me I can hear her say 'hi Grugie', it just makes me melt.
Although I had overcome my depression when she was born, it just gives you another life, and whether you are still putting on a fake face it doesn't matter because it slowly carves away at you depression and does begin a new life, especially if you very close to the parents, who may know or maybe not of your depression. L Geoff. x
