I wanted to discuss the phenomena of the futureless future in specific reference to my own context.
I have been working the same dead end job for 6-7 years I am unable to find alternate employment so my career is at a dead end. By the same token my dating life and potential for a relationship is at a roadblock as well because I don't feel any pleasure during intercourse.
I feel claustrophobic, like I am surrounded by brick walls. I don't think I would be depressed if I had found some success in any of the different aspects of life.
It seems like my life has nowhere to go and tomorrow will be another day of going through the motions.
Anyway, thanks 🙂

What sort of things are you passionate about?
I started studying in an area I felt where I could make a difference. And something that made me feel useful.
Perhaps there are other opportunities in your current job?
Lastly have you spoken to anyone about your thoughts and feelings? Your partner? Family? Perhaps you could also talk with your GP about intimacy issues.
These conversations can seem difficult - I have had similar chats with my wife. Afterwards you might have a way forward. Hopefully.
Tim

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have spoken to a gp about my intimacy issues. I have no partner as I do not like sex. I have spoken to friends and family and drs and psychologists. I have tried everything if I hadn't I wouldn't be depressed.
There are no opportunities within my current job if there were again I wouldn't be depressed.
Thanks though.

Hi Leigh1987,
Thanks for reaching out 🙂 I'm really sorry to hear you are feeling trapped and like you're at a road block. I can also relate to times where I have felt my life is at a dead end and my future directions seem so vague. I guess the only advice I can give, which has helped me, is to only ever do things i.e., university courses/jobs that really interest you and ignore all external pressures from parents, friends, social expectations etc. I always think, since tomorrow is not guaranteed, if I passed away tomorrow, would I be happy reflecting upon my life what I have done? Obviously it's much easier said that done and especially with the current situation just maintaining a job is already really difficult. Also, i think dating and relationships don't necessarily equate to intercourse. Often people can have wonderful relationships with minimal physical intimacy. Do you have close friends you like talking to?
Please keep us updated if you feel up to it!
Wishing you all the best and sending you positive thoughts 🙂
