People tell me I'm doing things wrong, but won't explain to me exactly what and how

People from school keep indirectly telling me to do better, but they never directly explained to me exactly what it is that I am doing wrong. I want to be a nice person, and I try to be, but it's really hard figuring out what the problem is when people are very vague about it.

They indirectly tell me...

That I'm vain, superficial and socially fake, but don't explain how/what it is that I'm doing that makes me so.

That I'm stubborn, but don't explain how.

That I'm unforgiving

That I only want what's best for me

That I lack warmth and humility

That I'm materialistic

That I'm pretentious

That I believe in stereotypes

That I'm manipulative (I've looked this word up many times, but still don't get it, but it's definitely something that I wouldn't want to be because apparently, it's sort of like controlling people in a really mean way?) I also don't know how exactly I am doing this though or what it means.

That I'm heartless - If you're going to call someone this especially, PLEASE explain what exactly they are doing that makes them this because nobody wants to be like this.

That I don't say please and thank you - I use to not do this a lot for a stage when I was a teenager when I was using another forum, but I realized I was being rude and it probably didn't make people feel good even though they were helping me so I started doing it again so I don't see how I am still doing this? There have been times other than when I used that site when it didn't occur to me to say thank you, but it wasn't because I didn't appreciate them. I struggle a lot socially so sometimes I will think "that was nice what that person did for me" and then think "Oh, I probably should have said thank you." I say it when it occurs to me though, because I want people to know that I appreciate what they've done for me.

That I don't let others have opinions - again, no examples given.

That I'm jealous of others instead of just being envious and using that to get better - I don't know how I'm still acting jealous?

That I'm unfriendly

Selfish

Hypocritical

Etc...

If you're going to tell someone these things, but don't explain to them how they are doing these things/acting this way, it kind of defeats the purpose.

And when I politely ask them if they could please explain how I am only caring about material things or what stereotypes I believe in for example, they just get mad at me.

It's really hard to stop doing something wrong when you don't know exactly what it is that you are doing wrong.

Hi Earth Girl,

First things first - I want to assure you that I am in no way suggesting you don't seek medical attention if you feel you are suffering from a health condition. But - and I say this gently - The Sims 4 does not automatically broadcast your webcam to a random audience, and your initial idea of those messages being automatically from the game itself are correct. And, the game commenting "reticulated *username*" whilst seemingly very odd, does not refer to the condition of Livedo Reticulosis, but instead Reticulated (or reticulate) means constructed, arranged, or marked like a net or a network. It derives from the Latin word reticulum, meaning "small net". I don't ask you to share your username on here, but another thought I had was that if it was anything to do with snakes or serpents or anything of that matter, the game could have commented that in reference to the real life reticulated python.

Now if you were streaming your gameplay on a platform such as Twitch or Kick and those comments were coming from the people viewing your gameplay it might be a slightly different story. But I just wanted to clarify those couple things for you.

In saying that - defintiely check in with your doctor about any possible skin conditions you feel you may have, and I certainly wish you well 🙂

Hi audiology, thanks so much for your reply. 🙂

I'm glad that people probably haven't been viewing my gameplay without my knowledge as I don't think I have been streaming it on a platform. The only comment I got that I don't think would have been through the game was "Username? Mmm, tasty", but even that could possibly mean something else.

I have marking tape stuck to the camera part of my laptop so hopefully people won't be able to see me on anything. (I have actually accidentally watched a few livestreams which some people I went to school with know about). It's a bit embarrassing lol, but hopefully it's just been that at least and hopefully not too many people saw that.

Even though what it said probably wasn't about my skin, I've felt like there's something going on with the color of my facial skin, so I'll get that checked out.

I was watching shorts videos a little while ago and in one of them, this girl was looking at the camera I think, and I was watching the "shorts" video and reading the comments beside it. Sometimes when I watch shorts videos, if I get worried that I might actually be watching some type of live thing (which has happened before), I press pause of the video. I did this a few times with this video when I started getting suspicious and when I pressed pause, it paused, so I thought everything was fine. A little bit later, she turned to look at the screen again and looked shocked and then she looked at where the camera was on her laptop and then she raised her hand a certain way as if to say "wtf" so I pressed pause again and scrolled down.

I had grey marking tape on my camera (my dad put it on there after I realized that people were watching me play Sims - I never even set my computer to do any of this, but I keep getting seen by people and sometimes vies versa on my laptop) so I originally thought that at least people probably won't see me if this happens again.

I told my mum about it and she said, "well if you could see her, many other people would also have been able to see her and she'd be able to see them too, so it was probably someone else watching her that did something weird that she was reacting to." I tried to tell her that I was for some reason the only one who she could see, but she doesn't think so.

Should I go back to the shorts video and apologize to her in the comments, or would that make it more weird? I'm scared to go back, but I would like to explain that I thought I was watching a shorts video and say sorry because I probably looked like a real weirdo.

Dear Earth Girl.

Provided on any computer or laptop or tablet you use has tape over the camera lens  there is no possibility you are being watched, so no I would not respond in any way to anything you see such as you are contemplating. Apart from being misplaced it does give a stranger some details about yourself and possibly your internet address, not a good idea

If you wish to check most computers and laptops have a built in 'camera' app. If you use this as a test and it only shows a blank you can be sure your dad's tape is in place and working.

When you look on line you see all sorts of people, and some are actors and pretend responses, others were actually in conversation with someone else and recorded it for playback. None are seeing you.

You had already picked out the most sensible check - if you can pause a "live" stream and then resume it from the same place it is not live.

So please do not worry

Hi again Earth Girl!

Following on from the last topic of yours I commented on a couple weeks ago covering a similar subject matter - I would once again like to assure you that there is zero chance anybody was watching you and you have absolutely nothing to worry about. As Croix already put it - the fact that you had masking tape covering your camera guarantees nobody would be able to see you. I would also like to reiterate what Croix mentioned about you already absolutely hitting the nail on the head at the beginning of your topic - if you can pause and resume a video at your own leisure, without it impacting the overall length of the video, it isn't live, so please do not worry.
