Hi Kanga_brumby,
It can be really tough when friends move away and you loose contact with them. Sorry to read that family members don't seem to understand and are not supportive.
For some people, depression is a really hard illness to understand. I think a lot of people don't even consider depression to be an illness, like it is just a state of mind that we choose to have!
All of us suffering from depression know that we don't choose this at all!
It is great that you have written out how you are feeling. It is not great that you feel so lousy, but good that you have shared how you are right now, and hopefully through doing this you might realise there are people out there who will listen to you, or at least read and comment on what you have shared.
This is a safe place to vent and explain to like minded people that you are going through a rotten time right now.
If you don't mind a few questions, are you receiving any care or help at the moment from professionals?
Are you on medication for your depression?
Do you have some strategies to help you through this?
Have you ever used the phone help lines like the one here at Beyond Blue on 1300 22 4636, or Life Line or any other support? I believe there is a Men's Line as well. Not sure of the number though.
Do you have something you can do right now to help you feel a bit better? Read a book, watch a movie, have a warm shower (I'm not sure if guys like to soak in a bath or not?) if you have a pet, give them a hug. Try and think of three things that you appreciate from your day and think back if there were three things yesterday you could be thankful for.
For something totally different, try and think of every living creature you can starting with the letter P. That will give your mind something different to concentrate on.
Hope some of my ramblings have helped. I certainly understand that depression can by hard.
Speaking of hard, maybe you can try to find animals that begin with the letter Q.
Cheers for now from Mrs. Dools

No to professional help. Yes to meds there is only so much life line can do.
I would like to talk to the same person on going. So I don't have to rehash the same stories over and over. Or say don't go there.

Is it possible for you to find some professional help or have you been down that road before?
Have you had your medication reviewed lately? I have recently had my pills changed. My husband and I can't believe the positive change these new tablets are making!
Ah yes. I certainly get the not wanting to retell the same stories all of the time.
Just mentioned Life Line as places like that have certainly helped me from doing something I might have regrated.
A hot spa. Okay, do you have a bath? Fill it up, get an egg beater and make your own bubbles! Not quite the same thing is it!
Could you afford an overnight stay in a room with a spa. The change might be just what you need right now.
