Just moved house, feeling desolated

My parents and I just moved house a couple of days ago. As we were preparing to move, I felt indifferent and I just wanted to get it all over with, but for the past couple of days, I haven't been able to stop crying. I feel the same way I felt at school camps or when staying the night at my parent's friend's place when I was little or when my parents and I went on holiday a few years ago, but I can't make peace with the fact that this is not a holiday, I can never go back. I miss everything. I spent my entire life in that unit and now it's just a stranger's halfway house. I just want to go back.

Hi there,

Moving house is definitely hard, and the adjustment can be distressing, especially if you have lived there your whole life. I was only 11, but I was upset for a very long time when I left my first childhood home. But alas, it is inevitable and the positive to it is that you will learn to cherish the memories there and make great new ones at your next house. A house is only a home with you and your family there - home is where they are. How do you feel about the house or place you moved to?

It is a bittersweet feeling and adjusting to a new home and routine is hard. But if you continue to struggle with this, would you consider seeking help from your doctor or mental health professional?

I hope things improve soon,

Jaz xx
