Just about had enough...

Hi all,

I don't even know who to turn to anymore. I told my partner I think I'm suffering from depression and he said I've just hit a rough patch. The problem is this rough patch has been going for close to two years. I feel sad and cry all the time, have isolated myself from the few friends I had, don't want to talk to my family anymore and get no pleasure from doing anything. I haven't held down a permanent job for this time because I get anxious when I go into jobs and can't handle any pressure. So I quit. I went to see a doctor and they said I was suffering 'the winter blues' I went to see a psychologist (I tried two) and neither of them were very helpful. I really am at my wits end. What is the next step from here? Has anyone faced similar hurdles when trying to get help and how did you overcome them?

Hi Isa,

Welcome tot he community here at Beyond Blue. You will find so many different threads and topics here, plus a lot of information as well on depression.

If I was in your shoes, I would phone the local Doctor surgery and ask the receptionist if she can recommend a Dr in the centre who is best able to help with a possible case of depression. Talk openly with the Dr about how you feel or write it down and pass on a list of feelings and thoughts to the Dr.

Here at Beyond Blue, you can use the phone help line on 1300 22 4636. They may be able to help you find a Dr in your area who can assist you.

I have used the phone help line and also the Chat Online service here at Beyond Blue. You can email as well.

Sharing how you are feeling here is a great step to take as well. Hopefully other people will offer suggestions too.

If I were you, I would make an appointment to see a different Dr. I would look at the resources available here and consider using one or all of the help services available through this site.

You could also look up in your local phone book to see what assistance is available in your area under Mental Health.

Hope some of this helps!
