Is there anybody out there who knows something about DID, if so you're lying cos only people with it could possibly know.

I used to believe I had polar, but after 10 years experience I found I was a we, we have DID and no clue what to do or where to turn for help. So far my professionals have helped me with comments like 'thats rare', and the like. We, Jack who I've lived with for thirty years, and I are constantly fighting for control of our human's head. J. the good guy who's mostly in charge, spends his life trying to sort out Jack's disasters. So far he's driven away my wife, my daughters and my brother who happens to be a social worker, that's why I maintain nobody knows. On the off chance somebody does know, please help me.

Hi Spoono, welcome

No, I wouldn't know what you go through either. But, all mental illnesses are like that...nobody knows what its like to have BPD, ADHD, mania and so forth unless you have it. But we rely on many to have empathy, understanding that what we have is serious and we need others support.

But, you wont get such support easily. You really need to find a national group that has clients with DID. Then you can compare notes.

I recall many years after being diagnosed with bipolar and dysthymia, that I met a guy with the same symptoms and we had a great time comparing symptoms, habits and moods...and how to resolve such moods.

So, try to find out from medical staff where you can find a group that at least can show some understanding.

I'm sorry I cant be of any further help.

Thanks for being here.

Hiya White Knight,

I'm doing just what you suggest but thanks heaps for recognising my issue. It's on 2% of the population as opposed to depression on 25% so it's hard to find others. It's even harder to find people who believe you have it. I've known about my 'Jack' for many years, I invented him, but now he seems to come and go as he pleases.

Cheers spoono

Hi SPOONO,

Thanks for your post. I too don't have DID even though I've heard a lot about it, but TonyWK did have some great suggestions.

What I did find though which might be helpful is this site - https://di.org.au They seem to have a support group in Melbourne, which you can also attend via Skype, as well as an online discussion forum. The forum is on Facebook though so you would need to either use your real name or create a fake account.

I hope this is helpful. Even though it's rare please know that you're still very welcome and validated here.
