Hello JIvy,,
Welcome to the forum, & for letting us see a little of what you are going through.
Before deciding about whether to come off the meds or not, it's important to talk to someone about it, ideally, the person who prescribed them for you.
I'm thinking you don't have someone you can talk through your feelings, memories, & who can help you figure out what to do.
Although many people have experienced similar things, none are identical, so you may want to fill in some of what you need anyone you talk to, to understand. If you were to go to your GP, they will need to know a little to help find the best help for you. If you go on to se a counsellor or therapist,, psychologist or psychiatrist, they won't assume to know everything upon first meeting you. They will want to hear what you want to tell them, in your own words, in your own time.
& one thing I do know is, the talking does help.
You are welcome to talk here, as much or as little as you are comfortable with.

Hello Jlvy, a warm welcome.
I'm not a doctor, but was also assaulted many years ago and know exactly how you are feeling because no one understands what has actually happened as there are no scares or damage to show them, but this doesn't mean that the after affects aren't still happening and there may be times when you think you are recovering but suddenly something triggers your emotion and may relapse.
This was what happened to me for years after the event, so I know what you are saying.
Because you might have a longer than usual period of feeling better, it's understandable to think medication can cease, but this should be suggested by your doctor because we can never be sure whether or not we can avoid a relapse.
Friends may not know what to say to you because they don't of the actual circumstances and you might be afraid to tell them and there is a chance if they leave you that they appear again depending on what you are doing.
I desperately feel for what you are going through and have my full sympathy.
My very best.
Geoff.

Hi JIvy, how have you been?
It's been a while since you posted here & things have changed a fair bit here on BB. I hope you didn't find the changes on this website difficult.
I would like to hear what changes you have made to your life.
For me, I am doing better than I was a year ago. I'm finally getting serious about looking after myself, diet-wise & exercise, especially. It's been hard, but necessary & I am yet to really feel the benefits I had hoped. I have realised it feels good to make the decisions & to make the attempt to follow up with actions.
Hope to talk soon.
