Hi Carebear,

Welcome to BB 🙂

I've been coming here for 6 years now, and it's a great place to get support, advice, feel less alone, and talk to people who have first-hand experience with depression, anxiety, and all sorts of mental health things.

I myself have had chronic depression and anxiety for 7 years now (diagnosed, so probably longer in actuality) and I'm very familiar with how it makes you feel.

Antidepressants are a very complex thing, there isn't a "one-fits-all" pill that works on everybody. It takes a lot of work between you and your doctor to find the right antidepressant for you. I myself had to try 4 or 5 different types before I eventually decided to try and get by without them, because I'm in a very rare percentile of people that react negatively to hormonal therapy. Unlucky for me, but I focus on working with my psychologist on other ways to cope.

I completely understand how anxiety can make life difficult - Mine often stops me from getting out and socializing, or even just going to the shops or to the gym or something "simple".

Do you think you could get in to see your doctor again, maybe reassess where you're at and how you feel about your antidepressants? Do you see a councilor or psychologist? What sort of things have you tried in the past that help you to feel better, if any?

I hope this helps you feel a little less alone.
