I just don't know

So never want to sound like a victim, or someone just wanting attention..

But seriously, why are we here??

I have decided to join here as I just have absolutely no idea of where else I can turn to, or what to do.

Yeh, I just don't know 😞

Hi there Miss Debz

Firstly I’d like to extend a very warm welcome to you in coming to Beyond Blue.

Your first post – very succinct and short and to the point (hmmm, aren’t all those of the same meaning, anyway?)

Why are we here is one of those eternal questions that so many of us with depression ask.  It’s very hard to answer.

Also anyone with depression or a mental illness is never a victim or an attention seeker – we suffer from a very real and very dangerous illness.

I’m glad you’ve come to Beyond Blue – not only will you receive support along the way for yourself, and advice and guidance, but also, as you’re possibly fast learning, there’s so many others out there (fellow sufferers) who post here and they receive advice, etc along the way.  And checking in on some of these posts and people can also be a very effective learning experience also.

If you’re able to, it’d be great to hear back from you – to get a little bit of background about yourself and your own battles?

Kind regards

Neil

Hi Miss Debz,

It can feel extremely overwhelming and very lonely when we think we have no where or no one to turn to in times of need. I wanted to ask you a few questions to ascertain where or who you have tried to reach out to in the past, and hopefully provide some suggestions for alternatives moving forward.

Do you have any supportive friends or family?

Are you currently seeking the support of a therapist?

Have you spoken with a GP about how you are feeling?

Have you considered group therapy or support groups?

If you are feeling hopeless or suicidal, have you tried registering for counselling with the suicide call back service? https://www.suicidecallbackservice.org.au/register

I also wondered what self help strategies you have tried before? There are some suggestions in the following threads:

SELF HELP TIPS FOR MANAGING DEPRESSION under the Depression section of the forums

and

SELF HELP TIPS FOR MANAGING ANXIETY under the Anxiety section.

I hope we will hear back from you.
